Why would ___ make a poor president?

so I want to hear everybody's opinions and some facts that I'm unaware of as to how each candidate would do POORLY. I keep hearing that Rudy would be an awful president because of some stuff he did in NY, but I don't know what reasons those are.

So keep it civil and don't just say "cause he's a democrat" or whatever.

amrica isn't ready for a black president (almost there i think) and it's not ready for a woman either, tough choice ( cuz rudy cut da welfare)

for starters look at how he responded to Ron Paul at that debate. he uses 9/11 to benefit himself. he says it whenever he wants sympathy or to make it sound like he somehow knows everything there is to global politics. watch this and you will get a good idea about who he really is-

I know that and I've mentioned that in the Ron Paul thread - I was referring to people who constantly barrage insults towards his leadership abilities, yet don't ever give good reason for it.

Yea dude, although obama looks very young, he is very experienced. I mean hes not as experienced as some 60 year old senator whos been all over the place, but he has more than enough experience. I REALLY like obama, and he actually came to my school this past monday on memorial day so i got to see him speak. He is a great speaker, and had a ton of great things to say. Fuck hillary, shes a social climber and i dont like her at all. I really hope Obama wins. Fuck all the idiot southerners and racists in general who can't accept a black president. Get over your moronic, immature, judgemental stigmas about black people and move into the 21st century. It isnt 1860 anymore, the confederacy hasn't existed for almost 150 years.

dude i think the east and west coast are up for it, but middle america would prbly have some problems with it, like i said we're close so a year fom now who knows

The south would never vote a black president. Having Obama as Democrat rep would be like shooting yourself in the foot from the start. But Hillary isnt a very popular character either. although I would love the Democrats to win and 2 years ago I would've said they'd win easily, I think it will be a very close battle again.

Giuliani has made some pretty poor choices, he had Benard Kerik as one of his first cabnet nominees despite being briefed in 2000 about Keriks possible ties to the mob before making him police commisoner of NYC, and Kerik was strongly backed in 2004 by Giuliani when Bush nominated him for the top position in homeland security. He also has been married 3 times, which with the subject of marriage being such a big role in todays politics makes me question his ability to adress the issue competently.

he also allowed for the debris and bodies in the debris from the towers of 9-11 to be used to fill NYC pot holes

Hilary,

She suggested that we stop focusing on individualism and focus all of our efforts on being a team. Kinda taking a step towards socialism.

But more importantly, her voice is really annoying. Who wants to hear that for 4 years?

you obviously dont live in america. winning those "small" population states is a huge reason why bush won. having the evangelics back him was another huge reason too. middle america is going to be extremley important in the upcoming elections.

yea he kinda his. if you have seen/heard any of the qoutes of him saying that you havent looked into him long enough. he IS pro war. so is hilary

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/05/25/vote.effect/index.html

he is for a timely withdrawl of troops from Iraq. If you read the article, he gets slammed because he doesn't vote for a funding plan for the war because it has no intended date to remove troops. Obama supports our troops obviously, as does hillary, but both want to get them out of Iraq.

Mccain says- "I was very disappointed to see Senator Obama and Senator Clinton embrace the policy of surrender by voting against funds to support our brave men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan,"

Obviously, all the republicans support the war and view withdrawing soldiers as showing a white flag to terrorists, but honestly, we aren't going to eradicate EVERY single terrorist

you need to read more about the candidate you support. he think we should leave iraq when we defeat the insurgents! that pretty much means never, or . he supported israel launching a war agaisnt lebanon. he has said war with iran might be nessacary which is absurd. he is being backed by two neocons who helpred write PNAC. and he has admitted to using cocaine. GREAT CANDIDATE

I completely agree. But I don't think he'd win. I love Obama to death, and definitely want him on the ticket.

You have to remember who actually exercises their right to vote in this country. Minorities... nope. People younger than 30... nope. People with minimal income... nope. Caucasians over 40 years old... yes.

The people that Obama appeals most too, are in the voting minority. I couldn't even tell you how pissed off I get when I see 90% of the people I go to college with, without voting stubs on election day. Or that didn't even bother to file for an absentee ballot. It seriously takes 5 minutes.

There are too many racists and closet racists / subconscious racists in our country for him to win. Think about it. He sure as hell wont get any conservative votes, and he'll probably split some of the libral votes as well. Not to mention lose 1% on the green party.

Ok first of all, bush has used cocaine hasn't he? Obama can admit it, that doesn't really bother me. Second of all, he purposely didn't vote for a bill because it had no withdrawl date. He wants a concrete withdrawl date from Iraq. McCain voted for the bill, so even if Obama supports the war somewhat, every other major candidate also supports it, at least i think. I'm not going to lie, you are right, i should do more research on the candidates, but elections are in a year and a half so i have an assload of time to look.

thats a good point, but has any candidate completely ruled out force with iran? Ahmadinejad is a complete lunatic in my opinion

I think a Dem will win this election in 08. If I had to put money on it I'd say the Dem primary will be Obama or Edwards, both of whom have extremely successful campaigns. Saying that minoritys, people under 30, and poor people don't vote is flat out bullshit, Clinton beat Bush in '92 because the Americans wanted somebody who understood their dilemmas, not 40 year old rich guys.

Karl Rove wins the award for biggest political genius of the decade. Nothing the democrats could've done, could have stopped the religious/moral frieght train he started.

Bush did not become president based on issues at all.

Read... I'm not just pulling this stuff from my ass.

http://www.census.gov/prod/2006pubs/p20-556.pdf

We are in the year 2007, it's not 1992 any more. And yes Clinton did recieve a decent variety of votes back then. But look at the voting census. In a world where elections are won by thousands of votes, not millions the 8-10% differences matter.

I wish i could remember what the documentary was called I just watched, but it really showed the hard ships a lot of people face trying to vote. They showed the lines going out doors and wrapping around buildings during the last presidential election. People like single mothers might not have a lot of time to spend 45 minutes to an hour trying to vote between the hours of 7AM and 8PM.

All I can say is if you are too lazy to get off your ass and vote then you better not say 1 word about how our Government/Government Officials suck.

true, im not saying they are going to cause him to lose, im just saying winning middle america is important, and historically in recent years has been hard for the dems to control.

read my post. i mentioned nothing about issues, i mentioned how important support from the evangelicals and middle america helped him win the election. and yes, Rove is a political genious.
