Why was jay peak closed?

I'm pretty sure it's because of the winds. And that is saying something they work the lifts during some crazy wind storms.

it rained most of saturday than got cold and windy.. you wouldve been better off with skates

because it was quite possibly the worst day ever. smuggs was open but everything was icy and the park was closed

I forgot to add, ww have not detaching lifts at our hill too, and we have ran them in like 70mph winds, but it was just so stupid. Boarders on a lift with wind speed over 55, are in serious danger of being pulled from the lift and/or knee injuries, which the mountain would be responsible for. us as skiers have it a bit easier, but still why would you want to ride in that?

Sounds like prime Ice Coast skiing conditions. I couldnt imagine being on the lifts with gusts reaching 70mph!
