Why Wallisch should be going to the Olympics

I honestly feel so bad for tom, as do most people I'm sure. does anyone know if anything can be changed or is it set in stone?

Grow a pair and do some bigger shit besides one legged rail slides or stairway skiing, and then you can make fun of the jocks.

This is super surprising to me because I just assumed that he would be on the team..

And it bums me out because I was looking forward to him beasting it up in Sochi :(

I think the only option is for him to go anyway, or do something sick here at home while the olympics are going on.
 
I would love to see the power of NS harnessed into a full on attack on the coaches for not inviting Wally to the team. If anything, just to make them feel funking bad for not showing him the respect he deserves.

He will have another shot when he's thirty. Thirty is pretty young considering sports science guys predict athletic peak at age 28. Lebron's 29 and shows no signs of slowing down.

I don't understand why he wouldn't have another shot if he continues to train with top trainers at top facilities, and pay the bills with skiing all while fine tuning his skills.

That being said,

the decision sucks. Tom is the face of our sport, did all that olympic bullshit, and got the carpet ripped out from under him. Fuck the coaches or whoever decided this, they are pieces of garbage.

Sochi is a shithole thats going to be bombed by terrorists. Keep ya head up and continue to be a legend.

well this post sucks.

like it or not, tom is, and has been, the face of our sport really since his superunknown came out. he is skiing, and why should we represent skiing any other way than with the biggest icons in skiing? he's gone through the trends from baggy tall tees, to baggy jackets and hoodies and more recently to more fitted, technical outerwear. and the kids have been following him all the way through all of these trends. why do we give A FUCK what people googling his name are going to see about our sport when he IS our sport?

isn't this the shit skiing is all about? no censorship, all fun and games (that profile video!!!!). tom immature? punk? i hope this is a troll, for your own mental health's sake. i can not think of a single person better than tom who represents skiing exactly as it is. he has the perfect mix of competition skiing, camaraderie in his 4bi9 edits, modesty, respect, etc, and he's still more reserved than a lot of skiers out there these days. do you want mr rogers to represent park skiing?

and why the fuck would we be choosing athletes for their image anyways? when has that ever been a thing? kobe bryant was accused of rape, he is a legend. johnny manziel brings a shitstorm wherever he goes, but he still starts at QB. do you know why? because people want to win. this post is so backwards i just don't get it. you sound like an FIS board member.
 
im so fucking mad and confused. I completely with OP on everything he's said in this thread. I can not believe that the U.S. freeskiing team doesn't have a Tom wallisch in it, he's dominated park skiing for the last 5 years and in my opinion is the best that there will be for some time to come. You can't touch how smooth he is.

What I'd like to see.

Tom to dominate x games this weekend and then stop competing because fuck judges and focus on dropping the dope ass segments he's already proven to be capable of
 
breaks my heart. i was really looking forward to seeing him throw down. its a cliche thing to say but I truly believe he is the steeziest out of any competitor.
 
for top part: Skiing is not like other sports and you reach your prime much younger. you take far less slams and crashes in skiing than you do in basketball.

for bottom part: Tom would rather not waste his next four years to "train" and prep for olympics. He's gonna be in the street doing urban

30 just seems old for a free skier to make the olympics. hitting 60+ ft jumps all day for four years takes a toll on your knees

But seriously, Joss is a strong skier, but atom deserved to go.

He's the athlete we need, but don't deserve apparently.

I knew from the get go slopestyle being in the olympics was fucky. The fact that Tom is a pioneer for our sport and he throws down should of gotten him on before the comp jocks. I must say I like the fact that Joss did get on the team, he's a legit kid but that team will be nothing with out Tom... Go Sweeden I guess

He moves to Jamaica with Tanner and they have the dynamic pipe slope duo.

Major Plot Twist:

Tanner and Tom both get gold medals. Suddenly every known up and coming freeskier moves to Jamaica wanting to be as steeze as Wallisch.
 
It goes both ways. But, either way it seems like the most influential people who pretty much started it all initially aren't even going to be able to take part in the first Olympics for this.

It just sucks for these guys, they worked too hard.
 
Wow two of the biggest people in are sport (tom and simon) as far as progression goes aren't going to go to the olympics wow we should be able to do something about this after all its are olympic team...

2. Leak NSA secrets

3. Be forced out of Country

4. Request Asylum at Russia, under the conditions that he gets them a medal in Slopestyle
 
Really sad news, growing up always loved Wally slay in comps and his segments. Makes me think what influence this is going to have for the kids just seeing freeskiing for the first time through the olympics and being interested by it. It kind of sickens me that they won't get to see the legends of the sport on the international scale and they'll be influenced by the young guns that qualified and model themselves after those guys. No disrespect to Nick, Bobby, Gus, and Joss but I would have rather seen Simon, Tom, Candide, and Tanner showing people what they love to do.
 
lol ok so winning basically everything in 11/12 and quite a few events last year means he hasn't made a name for himself. you sir are very wrong. also his "olympic Profile" as you called, is the complete opposite of that. it is his North Face profile, showing that he likes to have a good, and personable. Also, if you haven't watched the other 3 north face athletes profile, you should, because they are exactly the same way, and they are going to olympics.

Not trying to be disrespectful to the guys on the team but,

this shit seems way too much like a jock fest now.

My idea of freeskiing isnt really points in some bullshit system deciding who gets to go the Olympics and coaches picking people to win medals, not to ski.
 
Fuck, I can't believe that the man with the best style in the game is not going to the olympics, the event he himself has been promoting so much. All his tricks are just so on point and look so much better than almost every other skier. Fuck I just really wanted to see him ski in the olympics. This is just such a bummer...
