Why skiing?

hi. Ok i was just wondering why you all choose to ski instead of snowboard, or skiboard, or wotever. I'm not telling u whicg is best but just out of interest why do u choose skiing? And please no gay replies like 'cuz snowboarders are all fags'. Seriously, what attracts you to skiing and not another snowriding method? And have you all tried snowboarding or skiboarding, and why did u not like them so much?

cya.

skiing is faster. Snowboarding is a mass-marketed poser-fest. I got put on skis when I was two. I guess that wasn't a choice. Those baggy MC-hammer pants that snowboarders wear were difficult to walk in. I hate getting stuck on traverses. facing downhill is more hardcore than going sideways.

I started skiing when I was a little kid, like most people because that's basically all there was. Then, in the early 90's, snowboarding started to hit big, and a lot of people got trendy and switched over to it because it was in the x-games or some shit. But why switch if you're good at something? And plus, now skiing is getting to the same place snowboarding was back then, it's going to a whole new level. one

when i started skiing, thats all everyone was doing and i saw no point to switch to a slower less stylie sport that i had no experience in, so i didnt

I skied for five years, than snowboarded for 5 years, and now I'm back on my second year of skiing! Having a lot of fun! Why switch to snowboarding? Cause at the time skiing was boring and snowboarding wasn't, it still isn't but it is fun switching back and forth from time to time, hwoever, I admit I have skiied more in the last two years! I love both sports and I find it ridiculous when (and I neglect to say this because it will turn into a fuckin argument, a pissing contest have you?) people argue over what's better. Completely subjective! And I trieds snowblades once too. Tried to do a front flip off a mogul and landed on my back, deserved it! Don't like skiboards, however, if that's all we had than everyone here would ski them and they would be cool!

skiing is the shit. It is way more diverse than skboading or snowbording. And everybody snowboads, it just the cool thing too do. But people dont realize that skiing is way harder than snowboarding and actually takes a lot of talent. And snowblading is just not fun, tricks look gay, and you cant really ski on them like real skis.

my parents put me on the stupid things when i was 3 - and at that age you really don't know what your doing. so yea.

who's fuckin' idea was it to have a chicken cross the road anyways?

and have you ever wondered what a garaff is thinking? i know i have.

I tried skiing first, and I forgot about snowboarding because I was having so much fun. I haven't tried snowboarding yet, so I can't comment on it too much more. I'm also worried about not getting face shots if I snowboard on powder.

when i first started 2 years ago i liked skiing but wanted to snowboard more bc i wanted to learn how to do tricks. i then found out about new school and kept on skiing

snowboarders get ass

I like skiing cause I feel more comfortable on my skis than on my own two feet to tell you the truth.

I skied like twice a year when I was younger, then when I had some cash and really wasn't to aware of the newschool movement I bought a pair of skiboards, rode those a while and got a lot of balance, discipline and control. I even tried snowboarding for a while during that and just didn't like going sideways, I just felt like I could be more aggresive on skiboards. Soon after I tried a snowboard I tried twins, and well,... end of story. I never went back. They're just faster, more stable, more relaxing, and the style is incredible. Who could want anything else besides a mint pair of sticks on your feet as you fly through the air...

Yah...like darryl....i was strapped to the suicide boards when i was 3. By age 4 i had a membership to the hill and would scream and cry if i didn't get to go on the weekend. By the time snowboarding came around i was doing these sick tip cross spreads and i couldn't bear to change to that stupid looking sport that caused you to walk funny from a sore ass. I'm about to start my 19th season..

Why risk losing a day of fun to learn to board, when I can ski already?

Tried snowblades, they weren't much fun. My mom uses them now - less stress on her knees so she can keep going all day. Not a bad investment in the end.

I started when I was 2. I couldnt barely walk yet, but I loved skiing even then.

I wanted to try snowboarding when it first came out. I was about 8 or 9. But I couldnt rent any boots that were small enough for me, so I could never learn without buying everything, which my parents didnt want to do.

I nearly switched over again about 3 years ago, but when I learned a 360, I couldnt stop skiing.

My school made me snowboard, they wouldnt let me ski on school trips, so I had to smuggle my skis on the bus in a snowboard bag, and I had to take a snowboarding lesson. I hate having both my feet stuck on the same board, it felt like my feet were tied together!

There are a few reasons. First off, skiers in my opinion can get into more extreme situtatoins, for example tight rock chutes. And skiers can do everything snowboards can do. And i don't want to deal with starting over.

Given snowboarding is sweet, and has given a lot to skiing, but i would never give up skiing.

I tried skiing and I tried snowboarding. I was better at snowboarding but I decided to ski and now I'm outdoing my friends who've been skiing for a lot longer.

I started skiing at 2 and i took to it naturally so thats mostly why, but i have tried all four snowriding sports, i cant snowboard because i cant count to 2, i hate skiboarding because there not stable ne where out of a park, and extreme shovel racing was a little painful on the gloots.

I started skiing when I was two.... Skied most of my life, the decided to try skiboarding. Bought a set, used them for a bit but they are slow, unstable and not smooth, they also suck in powder. Learned that the hard way haha. I have never tried snowboarding simply because all of my friends did it, and I was always waiting for them at the top of the hill to do up their bindings.. I dont have enough patience for it and I like facing straight down the hill instead of sideways. Theres just way more style in skiing. Snowboarders cant cross their board, but we can. I also chose skiing because everyone was snowboarding when I was younger, I just like doing things differently but as the years go on I am finding more and more poeple getting into FreeSkiing (which is great). Anyways I'm blabbeling on

Let it snow!

My whole family got into skiing back in like 93/94. We had a dry slope nearby which we spent quite a bit of time on.

I wasn't really exposed to snowboarding at all back then, as like 90% of people on the mountain still skiied.

Then snowboarding came really big and I tried it 2 or 3 times. I got really pissed off on catching my toe edge and smacking my knees/face all the time. So I was just like 'fuck, why bother having to learn shit all over again when I can do what Im already good at?' so I went back to skiing.

Havn't been snowboarding since... not even when I had free rentals for a season.

But yea.. Couldn't be bothered learning again was/is my main reason for not boarding, plus like *everyone* my age does it in New Zealand...so I thought I would be different :)

What gravity?

cuz snowboarders are all fags. Just joking. i have been skiing my whole life and then i tried snowboarding. I then went back to skiing becuase of all the crazy shit people were throwing down.

I pitty the fool who don't use 1-800 Collect.

snowboarding wasn't really an option when I started. I never really got into snowboaring like skiing. I loved watching their tricks in the pipe and park, then I was allowed into the park. skiing allows me to express myself more than snowboarding. though I would still like to be able to do both
