Why skiing is great

it's because their are so many differant ways to be a skiier, you can ride park all day like some people, doing 810s onto rails and spinning like a top and doing crazy grabs, or you can throw smooth 3s and such shit. you can go into the city and find urban shit, you can race (although i don't know why you'd want to) you can do moguls. You can ride big mountain like pollard, or you can ride it likemorrison, or you can build yourself a booter. It's really hard to do all of this so stop the fucking hate threads about how some kids only ski park or whatever, because it's all skiing and it's all good

Skiing is the greatest thing in the world because you have absolute freedom. You are only limited by the forces of gravity and your skills. You can do whatever you want when your skiing.

one of the thousands of great things about skiing is its so anti competitive, everybody is chill with each other and there arent any big rivalrys, its just everybody having fun

skiing is great because you are always working on new things and getting better, and working on something you love = happiness

word to everybody above me. myself i like to do a little bit of it all. i try to be well rounded in all areas.

true that

i ski the same mountain about 30-40 days a season and it only has about 30 trails but i never get bored because there is always some way to make the run different whether it involves going into the trees or going up a wall of snow or whatver

you can ski all agressively and shit but then if you want to just have retard fun for a few runs you can just moon old people or do equally immature things

for sure there is so much stuff you can do, i think with skiing there is a lot more freedom than snowboarding and it allows you to go to new places, and ski in places where a snowboarder couldnt get to. The freedom of skiing makes it the greatest thing in the world.

diversity makes skiing soo much sicker too. snowboarding gets so boring to watch cuz everyone looks fuckin identicle...

I feel kinda like a fujative or an outlaw when I ski. You can just go where ever the fuck you want, over any thing. Even more fun in spring when there are trees, bushes, rocks in the way. i love being able to jib every thing, natural things are the best for me though.

I just wanted to say this thread is awesome, such a great way to share stoke on skiing.

I really like getting deep into a carve, especially in pow, when you can feel your arm right up against the ground.

I love the feeling of dropping a cliff switch.

I love the feeling of nose buttering off a jump

I love the feeling of hitting pillow after pillow after pillow

I love spraying all the Japanese tourists that visit my resort daily.

It's pretty much impossible to get bored with skiing. Anyone who has started to snowboard because skiing got "boring" really just stopped being creative. Skiing is great because you can do whatever the hell you want. No boundaries, no limits.

and im stoked to see the diverseness appearing in skiing. gangster, tight pants, people take influence from so many different aspects of not just our but sports culture in general

Definatly, with skiing you have complete freedom, there shouldnt be so much hate about what people wear or where they ski, people should just ski because they enjoy it

one of the best thing about skiing is that the sky is the limit.. and no one is telling you do this do that in a specific way, except racing but even that has its fun parts

but at the same time everyone pushes each other to be better.

i also like how skiing is an individual sport, where its all about what you want to do. but its also all about being with friends and improving one another.

you kind of hated on racing, wondering why people would do it... its the top level of skiing, think about it, thats the point, skiing is about turning and going fast and being extreme, racing is so gnarly and fun, its so unfortunate that there are so many racers out there who are just total fag tools and fuck up the fun for everyone

i find my self focusing on parts of my skiing

i get into pow for a week

then back to rails

then jumps

and back to pow

its like a sick cycle

you just had to bring snowboarding into this. I guess it's just natural that some skiers will think they're better then snowboarders because skiing has been around longer. thing is you probably know hardcore backcountry skiers, but no boarders. be aware of what you're saying

thing is skiing is great, im not here to rag on it,

but

i disagree with your comment, you can get to any place with a snowboard as you can with skis. whether it be with split boards or good old fashioned hiking.

yeah like my philosphy is do it all but if you just want to do big mountain or park then that is cool too caus it is still skiing SKIING IS OMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

word, not to turn this sick thread into an argument. but you need to broaden your view a little bit(to the guy who you quoted), snowboarders aren't either a. park or b. gaper, there are bc boarders, urban riders, park riders, racers. everything. personally i do it all, but its the same shit, same freedom to do whatever you want. there is absolutely no place a skier can go that a boarder cant. (besides like alta, taos, mrg and that one other one...) its not like there arent snowboarders who do nothing but shred the bc all day and nothing else.

yeah racing is actually fun but most people who do it and what it stands for isnt - sometimes its nice to just go fast on some super high tech race skis - you get a completely different thrill than from freeride
