Why skiers suck

I work at a ski shop and the other day I had an epiphany as to why the snowboarders of old hated skiers.

I was behind the counter organizing some stuff when a guy came in with a pair of B1's from 02. I was like "What can I help you with?" and he said he needed a tune. I said ok and started filling out the reciept and putting him in the computer. Since this process takes maybe 2-3 minutes I was nice enough to talk to him. I asked him if he'd been out where to etc, just idle small talk. He was kind of condescending to me but whatever, I let it slide. So as I'm asking where he goes in the area he said Tyrol, which is locally renowned in Southern Wisconsin as the best park in the area. I asked him if he could tell me what they had up for rails etc, to which he replied "I do not slide my skis over structures!" with a scowl on his face. He then told me how rails take no skill and that they shouldn't be on ski hills. The temptation to pull his skis off the rack and completely detune under the foot was very great.

This, to me, just illustrated what stigma is still attached to most skiers. It sucks to be lumped in with a bunch of assholes who think their method of skiing is the only right way.

I'm just bitching whatever I guess.
 
There's old school skiers that think park is pretty cool too.

When i was in CO, i had an old guy go ape shit cause i ripped past him switch, i carved all the way down to the bottom, and he proceded to come up to me and say, your not allowed to do that! Ski properly or your going to get your pass taken away! All Mad.

All i said was ya sure whatever buddy. I was skiing with my dad, who said to the guy he probably skis backwards better then you do forwards. The we proceeded to jump on the lift.

My dad is 53, and gets stoked on kids ripping it up. At Silver Star, he kept tellimg me this story about a guy on Seth Pistols was ripping switch past him on a pow day, on a double black. He was like "it was nuts! So i tryed to keep up to him the rest of the way down the run once he jumped back forward, it was Sick!"

He's words exactly.

But there are still old school haters out there.
 
Yea my dad is the same way he is going on 60 and can still shred the gnar good as anybody. He likes to go in the park with me which I know a lot of you guys hate but he loves where the sport is going and loves watching kids jib and go off the booters. He always tells me if he was born 50 years later he would be in the park jibbing with the rest of us. He gets it I mean he gets where the sport is going and loves it. I wish all old farts could realize we are changing skiing for the better!
 
are you kidding me, theres a thread every day about someone bashing on snowboarders for being to many oof them in the park and stuff, its rediculous..
 
after reading the first post i was thinking, wouldnt it be cool if this thread is brought back five years from now, and everyone (old farts included) know about skiers hitting rails, booters etc and its the norm
 
Some Old schoolers hate new school and don't forget some new schoolers hate the old school! Some people I know think that only rails are the cool thing, but thats only because they suck at everything else! I ski everywhere in the mountain and respect everyone who respect my decisions.
 
yeah, rails are super fun.... reminds me of skating. but there are a lot of fags that ski... like poser dudes that think they're the shit but they suck. but there are very few of those guys.
 
if it wernt for us.... skiing may have dided... and we would all be out there in skin tight suits like gay little racer fags
 
See guys like that give skiers a bad name. And the thing about rails taking no skill. I would love to see this guy in the park. Im not gonna lie, Im a good skiing. I can handle any terrain you put me on. But I just started in the park and im still not that good. I chose to move to the park cause I wanted a challenge. What a loser! Sorry you had to deal with a f*g like that
