im of legal voting age, theres an upcomming election in which i may partake. why should i vote? i dont hold any strong feelings towards any of the people running nor do i actually know what the hell the is going on in the political world. why should i vote?

Here is why you should vote: a shitload of people have given their lives to secure the right to vote for others...The American Revolution was fought so a country could be developed where it would be influenced by the people. I'm not big fan of either candidate, but I will vote simply because I considermyself fortunate to live in a country that gives citizens the freedom to have a voice and be able to express our opinions. That's rare, lots of countries would love to have that right, so don't take it for granted. Plus, it's not hard at all to vote, you can have a ballot sent to your house.

CJ: you're better off not voting, but spending all your spare time helping your local Liberal MP's campaign efforts. Why? Because the last thing we need is Steven Harper as our prime minister. Your help could be crucial in convincing people to vote Liberal, which, for better or for worse, is our only legitimate chance at not having a 'Conservative' government.

Any Prime Minister Wannabe who has so far been unwilling to share his party's stances on hot topic issues like abortion, same sex marriage, and drug laws, other than saying 'our party doesn't force its members to have one single opinion, and won't put out any bills in regards to abortion/drugs/gays/etc', followed by 'I will allow free votes on any/all private members bills in regards to controversial issues' is at best naive and dumb, and at worst, dangerous for our country.

So, here are your options: Do something to make sure the Conservative candidate in your riding IS NOT elected(think globally, act locally), vote, OR put Harper in a position where he and his party might be able to be put into power. You choose.

i live in Ohio, the so called balance point in the presidential election. somehow ohio is supposed to be the best representation of what america is really like or something. cincinnati is super conservative, columbus is super liberal, and cleveland is the loose cannon that can go either way. ohio sucks.

Jib This... the reason Harper's saying that is to avoid the tough questions, it's not a policy. He's L-Y-I-N-G. Look at speeches and statements from earlier in his political career... he hates gays, is racist against Asians, is a devout pro-lifer and heavily biased against anyone remotely connected with the French language. He's an effective campaigner, which in this case is synonymous with an effective liar.
