Why short poles?

cause its annoying to have your poles touching the ground while your about to go off of a jump or do a rail, and besides smaller poles are lighter

- Don't get in the way- More appealing to the eyes- Lighter- Less chance of hitting a camera set up on a tri-pod next to the lip- Less chance of busting your lip on it- Park skiers don't really need poles anyways soo...

helps with balance, and most people have always skied with them whether it be long or short so its kind of a comfort thing i guess you could say

the only time i find my poles help with ballance is when i stick it in the snow cos i have to stay up and that wouldn't work if they didn't even reach the snow, i mean i get your theory but i'm not sure it works, equally it could just be more weight to frow you off ballance.

i think it must just be a purly asthetic thing like just so he has poles so people can't say he's gay for not having them.

I think it looks kinda dumb if the pole are too long/normal length in the park, or sometimes in general.

i pwn noobs with little poles just like my boy pete

well a friend of mine one landed switch on a jump with his pole in the ground n it got him right in the nose, breaking it and making him bleed all over the landing, thereby causing the loon mountain park staff to shovel the bloody snow off of the landing, forcing other skier not to use the feature and making the park less efficient.

short poles offer better olfactory sensations for those directly involved in their use, and a more enjoyable park experience for those indirectly associated with them!

one time i was at killington and i hit that dfd rail the black one, and ended up sliding of the side. my pole some how got caught in between the top of the rail, right were the ply wood starts, and the snow. It yanked my arm thus messing up my ride awayy
but with short poles this whole thing wouldnt have happend

when you need to push around you got poles. when your skiing park its like they arent there. i think it should be no poles though

For me, I came from a freestyle background where short poles are important to stay forward. It forces your weight forward when skiing all mountain, etc, and for park its more visually appealing, and they dont get in the way as much.

ever since i first saw him skiing on the internet he like never even used poles, slamina is like one of the only movies/edits that ive seen him actually use poles so maybe he uses the shorter ones cuz hes used to not using any at all and theyre less of a hassle? idk haha

finally some one said it! that is the reason i cut my poles down!! when you carve riding switch they can catch the show and fly up, when i finally decided to cut them was when one of them caught and i ended up hitting myself in the face. half of these other reasons are bogus, riding switch is why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i started using them on summer setups and they are alot less of a hassle in general. the poles i oficially use are about 1 1/2 feet talll maybe shorter

so they dont get in the way when you fall, riding switch, and i know wear they are are in the air.

yea i choose to use short poles because they dont get in my way when i dont need them, and theres less of a chnce i could bust my lip on them after landing. dont tell me thats never happened to anybody here
