Not sure who you actually are or if there's some shenanigans going on with the spammy nature of how you put things vis-a-vis us vs SVSS, but I'd like to set the record straight.
I'm "Chappy" the main owner (we have my family plus several employee / manager / owners) and if you do live around here and have for a long time then you'll know that if there is ANYTHING wrong with your experience at Porters that I'm easy to track down and I will ALWAYS do you right.
I find it quite odd, though, that you would say what you did. Our two main backshop techs in Tahoe City are John Houston (east coast techy trained with a decade of experience) and Kyle O'neal (semi pro / big mountain skier / been in a film or two / and great friends with JT Holmes and a lot of the Squawllywood pros). Those two do EXCELLENT shop work and I'll put them up against anyone in the area. If you have a problem, they'll fix it and do it for free. So if you are local you should know at least who Kyle is and know that he's a great guy and would never fuck up your stuff.
And if you're really old enough (like I am I'm 38) to remember Porters 20 years ago, you'd certainly NOT be saying that we were legit 20 years ago versus now. Porters used to be a decent, average mountain shop with nothing too spectacular in terms of brands, selection, and customer service. It certainly wouldn't have been a spot that many NS types would shop at. It also wasn't a spot that a ton of true locals shopped at.
Over the last 6 years, though, we have completely transformed ourselves. More selection. Better prices. Full online shopping. And a 100% commitment to customer satisfaction including lifetime returns and an unconditional satisfation guarantee with your gear
http://www.porterstahoe.com/faq/returns.asp . We have a permanent local's 10% discount that SVSS doesn't do as well.
So I'm not here to be confrontational - and if you did in the past have a legitimate bad experience - let me make it up to you. Email me at
chappy@porterstahoe.com and put me to the test.....
