Why no love for skiers!!!

cause none of them have any superstar qualities like that of a shawn white, danny kass, etc. they lack personality and a willingness to identify with their fans. too cool for school attitude i guess.
 
umm no. snowboard companies just have enough $ to boost those kids into superstardom and ski cos dont.

yeah. i learned to live with that. its gonna be years before skiing is "as cool as boarding", but i dont care, cuz i have fun doing it.

are you kidding? he races drunk and hung over! and admits to not having fun skiing...and stays with it for the money and pride, thats low, as far as a icon, or influence, think about the young kids that race look up to these older racers as heroes, than come out and publically announce skiing drunk...how do those younger kids see that??
 
Want to cite a source where he says he doesn't have fun skiing and only stays with it for money and pride? And why does everyone think that because he said he HAS raced drunk that he ALWAYS does so? You kids are retarded. If Bode can qualify for Salt Lake hung over and puking, he can ski however the fuck he wants. Let the guy live his life, he didn't sign up to be your ideal of what a role model should be. He's in racing because he can get down a hill faster than you, not to be a good influence to stupid kids who can't make their own life decisions and have to imitate sports stars.
 
^ he didnt sign up to be a rolemodel. But as a skier at that level with so much attention, especially now, he has the responsibility to be a rolemodel.

Why, because you say so? Accepting a profession that people happen to enjoy watching doesn't immediately impose responsibilities on a person. Being GOOD at it certainly doesn't either. How does that make sense? "You're good at going down a hill really fast on these stick things, so you now have to be this type of person". Retaaaaarded.

He doesn't have to be anything he doesn't want to be, and no one has the right to find fault with him for it. Yeah... it's great when a sports figure wants to set a good example for kids. That's laudable. But it shouldn't be EXPECTED. All he has to do to do his job well is to win races. Anything else is going above and beyond the call of duty.

Oh, and by the way, most sports stars who try to put off that image are some fake motherfuckers. You just know they're doing lines and fucking pricey whores on the weekends when there are no reporters around. Bode is a normal guy who's honest about his normal lifestyle. He just happens to be a better skier than you. Would you criticize the mailman for getting drunk on weekends? For fuck's sake the guy is in his 20s. Let him have some fun in life.

I think that skiing is getting more and more popular and snowbording is quickley decreasing in popularity. It use to be all about boarders but now skiers have twin tips and can ride park better then most boarders with better style. A lot of my friends switched over to boarding but now a lot are switching back and some kids are taking up skiing instead of boarding. Bode is a douchebag
 
If you are a sporter at this level, you automatically have this responsibility that you're a rolmodele Everybody is watching you and the whole country wants you to win gold at games!

But you really think he can win games, when he went drinking the night before... right!
 
like someone mentioned before, one of the adds started of with Tanner hall being teh first one mentioned(ive seen it also) so this whole thread is a waste
 
its all about ratings. the coverage is perportioate to how many people are watching. there is not enough freestyle skiers around to boost up the ratings.
 
sry guys i didnt see the add with tanner frist. and i dont think he should be in it he is a d-baged gangster. he is sick an all but i hate the way he acts and i think he is a bad rep for free skiing.
 
I would just like to say, I totally agree with AR-six. Bode Miller is probably the most honest guy out there. You look at so called "role models" in football or the NBA. those guys are constantly in trouble... yet they are acccepted as Icons. Kobe cheated on his wife, but nobody cares because hes a great basketball player, allen iverson is an egotistical doushebag that rolls around in his rolls royce and has a new explicit tattoo on his shoulder every week.

There are wife beaters and felons in these sports... I dont think that its safe to say Bode Miller is all bad when he at least admits to what he does, and when he does it, hes not in anybody elses harm.

I personally find it amazing he can ski drunk, and with that kinda ability... I could never do that and most people on this world couldnt. hes a superhuman.

besides... theres no laws against drinking on the slopes as far as I know... and even if there was, the ski patrol isnt exactly a police force.
