Why Killington has no excuse to close on May 6

Yeah he pretty much got it folks. Ski resorts dont care about people like us, when its not longer profitable for them to be open, they wont be open. End of story. Shit my local hill never got into april this year. Quit bitching.

It has nothing to do with how much snow they have or how many people will end up paying. Nor insurance.

Most ski resorts are built on National Forest Land, and National Forests give them a limit on how late they can stay open according to National Wildlife, Hunting, Fish and Game, and other Naturalist organizations.
 
bjorn bout the black bears, yes stratton has that issue with black bears but at killy it is not an issue. Stratton has to close in or around april 15th. Their black bear population is a lot higher then killy's for sure even though ive hiked stratton in the summer and never saw a black bear and there arent THAT many. They did come down the golf course i worked at on several ocassions but it was rare.
 
to create a good image for next year. THey need people to just get killington passed instead of asc. What better way to do that then show that they are the biggest and best and can stay open way past everybody else.
 
Although this is only a rumor, it hasn't been squashed yet. I have heard that the new owners will have free skiing next weekend. Sounds too good to be true to me as well, but it's something to hope for I guess.
