Why isn't there a womens big air event at the X-games?

Freeskiing is one of the most progressive sports on this planet, and in which event do we allmost allways see the new boundary breaking tricks? Big air.In my opinion they should also let the ladies hit it. I just read an article on freeskiier on the sustainability in womens slopestyle (http://freeskier.com/stories/mans-course-womens-slopestyle-skiing-sustainable), where the size matter on the features is being discussed, and it got me thinking.

We all know that there is a pretty big difference between men and womans when it comes to skiing (both mental and physical reasons ofc.), but how can we facilitate for the ladies to progress faster?

It may not be the whole solution, but i think letting in Womens Big Air at the X-games could do a whole lot!

Build a smaller kicker besides the large one, so they actually would dare to attempt the bigger tricks!

Grete says she would send it if the jumps were smaller, so if the jump is build right and is not too large we will most likley see bigger tricks. For all we know they would send progressive tricks of the big kicker too! Just look at the Nine Queens event!

We all know what happens when the pressure is on at the Men's big air both good and bad, but that's all part of the sport.

I think they deserve a shot at it and will also be a factor that will progress Womens slopestyle as well.

I think have a womens big air would actually give them real reason to send it and progress individual tricks instead of fucking around having to be conservative in a slope run.

My friend who was training in New Zealand this summer said he saw some girl win a big air comp with a 720 (probably on axis with a safety grab). That's why.

So we're supposed to let it stay that way? And these days Girls are actually doing doubles, so you sir are incorrect.

This would be great! Even if it sucked for a few years, it would probably get dubs to be the norm. As much as I hate on womens skiing seeing it get better is what everyone wants. This would be a great step towards it.

Just have it on the money booter.

That being said, the women will never be as good as men, period. It's just how humans are. It's not sexist or anything like that, it's just realistic. Men are gentically built bigger, stronger, and have way more testosterone. They are naturally more competitive and more aggressive than females. A big air event would be fair, but it would also be extremely boring which is probably why there isn't an event.

How about banning women's competitions.

They will never progress when they can win a slope comp with pencil tickle grab spins

Men's skiing brought skiing to the olympics, not women's

That is a stupid idea, do you have any idea the shit storm that would create? like feminists need another thing to bitch about.

Woman's skiing will progress, just at a slower rate then guys. I think they should introduce a woman's big air comp because it would help them progress at skiing in general. It would get more woman trying bigger tricks and those tricks will soon enough integrate themselfs into slopestyle and half pipe.

Because the slopestyle jumps are too big. And there needs to be a "Tanner Hall" or someone who changes the whole game to where you can't win slopestyle with a 9 or such

On the contrary, without women's skiing, we would never be at the olympics.

Ever realised that there are men and women participating in every sport at the Olympics?

If women started using grabs it would be much more enjoyable to watch. The trick go from barley doing a 900 to a stylish 900.

WSI had women big air two years ago and only 3 women competed. They barely cleared the knuckle and they didn't throw any rotation past 7s. Besides, every girl on the field feels more comfortable throwing bigger tricks on smaller jumps. Therefore, a women Big Air Event wouldn't be much of a show.

Yeah thats true. Skiing is so unique though and the difference between guy and girl will be so much more intense than any other sport.

Yes indeed, but it would be one step in the right direction that will push woman's skiing into something more entertaining! Imagine that Womens big air happens the next x-games... One chick throws a double in the middle of a 15min jam, then more chicks would follow up, to try to claim their medal.Girls skiing needs a push.

Too bad the the maga-course at Sochi will probably do the oppositte.

Let's hope im wrong.

Just mute the volume because there is a girl or some young boy recording the video but you get the point...

yes. womens skiing needs big air. womens slopestyle shouldn't even be thing yet. give them rail jams and give them big air. they aren't good enough to combine them yet.

You're a dickhead, so shut the fuck up.

I'd say that Devin Logan threw down the hardest at X actually. You don't see many chicks throwing down big rodeos on the bottom two jumps of that course.

Gr8 argument m8.

So you mean the same trick i watched her throw in her WSI run 2 years ago?

Progression, bro.

Kelly Sildaru is the future of women's freestyle skiing. She already has both switch 9s and she's only like 12. She probably could have won the x games slopstyle comp becuase her rail game and jumps are insane but I don't think she is doing x yet and is probably still too small to clear most of the jumps.

Pretty darn sure Sarah Burke had a lot to do with SLOPESTYLE/HALFPIPE skiing making it into the Olympics. Sarah, who was in fact a woman.

FYI - Females have had many "ski" events in the Olympics for decades. Ever hear of Alpine racing? Aerials? Moguls? Ski Cross?

What rock do you live under? And honestly, I'd be ashamed if I were you.

LOL

she threw a fucking flat 5. That young gun maggie voision was throwing switch 10s with a mute grab and shes like 15! Shit's a fucking JOKE.
