Why is there rap on Ski Movies

Why is there rock in ski movies? I think its terrible. thers times for listening to rock but not with skiing.

hip hop + skiing = 1 love

"I don't think ghetto people ski" haha do u know who tanner hall is? i believe he is pretty ghetto...

why hasnt freeski ever listened to classified, moka only, mobb deep, swolen members, del anything that fuckin is the shit.

wow, you clearly missed the year 2002 my friend.

Most people that ski are white.

Most people that listen to rap are white.

Or maybe rap/hiphop just flows good with ski videos, I think it does.

It's almost a legitimate question... except often it fits the editing so well that you can't question it. Plus, anything with solid rhythm typically makes good ski movie music.

ya i think your a very sheltered kid, because hip hop is pretty much better than w/e you listen to which im guessin is country

idk if more people like it or not but its usually easier to time the landings with the beat of a hip hop song

^adrain with his math again, but yeah i totally agree we need rap, rock can be just too damn fast for the skiing, rap just flowss and it sounds better. instead of making fun of it try to listen to it, some of it is acually good (not the 50 cent shit)

hiphop has good beats, and it's associated with style. personally, i'd rather rock out and listen to some hard rock that pumps me up and makes me want to throw down rather than rap, which makes me feel like starting a brawl or shooting someone.... but that's just me.

i think the fact is most pro skiers like rap more, and they will usually get input on what song they want for their segment. i like it like that. if a skier wants to use a rock song no one is stopping them and it is good to see that too if that is what they want.

because the skiers like the music, and the beat makes movies flow so much better, i dont like hip hop or rap much but with rock movies wouldnt flow half as well

because most of the film makers get money from marketing and brand managers who are in their 30s and who think hip hop is "extreme". if they put say some early new wave or disco in as a kind of twist, the sponsors wouldn't get it because it would sound like the stuff their age group used to listen to and think the film makers had lost the plot - cheques withdrawn.

i guess it all really depends on who the person is. i personally hate rap and hip hop, and will never listen to it. but alot of people here say rap and hip hop coexists with skiing perfectly. i however think a nice tune from boston or styx will flow with my skiing.

because the younger generation everything in park skiing, and that is the music that they like, so they bring that style to the mountains

BLUE COLLAR MAN! That is a sweet song, I think it was in Session 1242 or something. So there's occasionaly good music in ski movies, but for the most part it's meaningless noise known as "rap" or "hip hop" or some crazy word like that.

personally, i dont much like rap, but i definately think that it belongs in ski movies. it makes the skiing seem so much more smooth like when the editors time the landing with the beat. and i also like to listen to rap when i ski. it definately adds flow, making it sortof more relaxing and pump up at the same time -if that makes any sense.

I don't understand why people who like rap defend it by saying it flows better with the the landings/tricks...all of music is done in rythem and time. I agree though, there is to much rap in ski movies...i'd love to hear some fuckin SKA baby! bring less than jake on the ski scene! TGR had mellincolin on one of their older ski vids and it was sick with the segment.
