Why is the sky blue?

The Sky is blue due to rayleigh scattering, most of the other wavelengths of light put out by the sun are uneffected by the earths atmosphere, or the molecules floating in the air. It is not that the only light you see is blue, it is the fact that the majority of the other colors(wavelengths) are not absorbed. The blue light is the most absorbed, and when it is absorbed by these molecules they release a photon of equal energy(wavelenght). This photon is blue, and there are tonnes of molecules everywhere in the sky doing this, so most of the light you see is blue.

dude, the sky is blue becaue otherwise saying "bluebird powder day" wouldn't make sense. Obviously.
