Why is the east coast so icey?

What are the meteorological conditions that make the east coast the ice coast? Humidity? Thaw and freeze cycles? Different quality of water for the man made snow?

Sugarloaf, and Saddleback are fucking great mountains. . When there is snow, and Sunday River is really pretty good but it has its icy-ness midseason as well.

im sick of midwest skiers saying that. let me try this too, TRY SKIING IN GEORGIA. And im pretty sure minnesotas avg snowfall is greater than PA's.

That happens in nj too, especially as of recent. It's been warmer then usual, so the man made snow that my hill has melts and gets slushy in the daytime. As soon as the sun goes down it gets super cold and presto, bullet proof ice.

you mean it melts in the sun and then freezes at night, because that happens in PA also, assuming that is what you mean. And at least you can blow new snow with your cold temps.

yikes. but we get 50 inches a year. higher than some spots in pa but not the mountains or the towns near lake erie.

Everybody knows that snow coming from the Pacific is fluffier than snow coming from the Atlantic.
