Why is skiing turning into snowboarding?

Does anyone else think skiing now totally copies snowboarding to a point where you lose the very reason skiing is better than snowboarding- Being able to go mach 2 down any terrain in total control. Don't get me wrong, freestyle is feckin' fun, but noone seems to wanna go fast anymore, its all style no substance in some cases. It quite saddens me.
 
Your views seem to be quite the contrary to everyone elses.

some people say we need to learn from snowboarding and their ways, along with park skiiers having no style at all.

In some ways, going "mach 2" down a mountain is fun, but i'd prefer to do a fat long deep turn in waist deep pow.
 
im pretty sure u have to go pretty fast to clear alot of the jumps people are doing.. almost pointing to pretty fucking positive on the serious meter.
 
yeah i dont understand the going fast part...true i do snow plow to the jumps and around the mountain..but if skiing turns into snowboarding wouldnt that mean the majority people are doing freestyle skiing..and thats bad? which = more money for better things

You have never skied with me, that is my favorite part. Especialy down really gnarly stuff on fujatives.
 
ahhah yeah. i love charging on my STLs. granted, i live in MN soooo. its like a 30 second trip down the hill if im going super fast. BUT when i was out west a couple of years back, in whitefish, theres a run called hellfire or something. its sweet. like 2 miles long or something, with huge rollers and switchbacks and stuff. way fun. my friends and i charged it non-stop pretty much, then we all collapsed at the bottom. it was insane.
 
dude my crew charges full speed and then we stop and figure out what we wanna do and then we charge down blacks and double blacks to get there.
 
id much rather go slower switch and jibbin the stuff on the side of the trail then bomb down the mountain

yeah, its sweet when theres a round about trail thats really long so you can do all the little stuff. its a good way to split up your day from the park

being more like snowbaording would be cool...aslong as we dont get those kids who snowboard to be cool, in skiing, they really arent in it for the snowbaording, they're in it to be cool...and thats not cool
 
skiing and snowboarding now is shit, skis have the abilty to so much more, even more then snowboards.
 
everyone loves to rip the occasional groomer, but quite frankly, groomers aren't a lot of fun to talk about, and they're not a lot of fun to watch. You've got to add elements of danger. And I don't know about other people, but I tend to crash a lot more in the park than I do straightlining the in-bounds steeps. Air = dangerous.
 
people dont go fast my ass, read some of the danger article in freeskier, people are constantly hitting close to 100 on in runs, so now, people are going real fast in the air. word
