Why is rape considered worse than murder?

I feel that society's consensus is that rape is worse than murder. However, I don't see how that is even possible when you take into account that........you're still alive.

Yeah but it phucks you up mentally for the rest of your life. I personally don't think that but some rape victims just wish they were dead because of how bad it messes them up.
 
The victim has to live with the trauma and memory for the rest of their life, while also knowing the rapist is alive (whether in jail or not). It also affects the people around them.

im pretty sure people dont think that. rape is just more controversial because of the innocent people that get blamed, and the whole asking for it thing. what can you really say about murder, i mean obviously killing someone is fucked
 
I don't think it is considered worst. You're way more likely to successfully convict someone for murder than rape. You don't see schools trying to sweep murders under the rug because it makes them look bad. More significantly (with the exception of things like gangs) you don't see victim-blaming for murder. Nobody is considered to be 'asking to be murdered' based on what they wore or because they decided to walk home from work.

That said I don't get why they have a sex offender registry but I could have a convicted murderer living next to me and never know.

but i would guess that since murder is way more common, and that the person has to live as a victim in pain (while a homicide victim is just gone and we dont need to see them anymore), we care more about rape.

because dead people arent alive to tell everyone how terrible it was to get murdered. rape victims (although they often dont speak about it until long after in some cases) will actively make everyone see how fucking terrible rape is, while we usually choose not to think about how terrible murders are.

And this is where your argument falls apart.

If you took a survey, I'm pretty sure most people would prefer being raped to being murdered.
 
No rape is ever justified.

Murders on the other hand often are. Sometimes the person had it coming even if the murderer is still guilty by the way of the law.
 
Don't be an idiot.

Of all the people who get murdered you don't think at least 10% or so had it coming to them? (That is probably a low estimate.) Be it robbing the person or whatever.

Now try to explain to me a circumstance where someone deserves to get raped. There is none.

 
I hardly think that getting robbed makes it justifiable to murder that person. That's like saying that someone punching you and giving you a bruise means it's okay to break their back and leave them paralyzed from the waist down
 
Over 50% of people in the US think that when they die they end up in heaven, so dying secretly isn't the worst thing. However getting raped causes you to have a shitty life, and according to some go to hell.
