You could always zoom your screen so the ads aren't visible. i don't really like adblock, so that's what I do.

Thread jack here, but do sites like youtube and Vimeo throttle your speeds when you put on Adblock? I had it on for a couple weeks and my YouTube speeds got a lot slower.
