Sure it sounds all lovey-dovey and grand, and oh, everyone wins. But you forget the repercussions both at home and abroad, Bush will be perhaps hailed by some liberals (though not by me) for admitting and pulling out. But he will lose his conservative base by jumping ship on the mission, his image is that of strength and perserverance, it violates the character he's created for himself. The Iraqi's, especially after the prison incident, would be unwilling to work for us, the tyrannical United States. If you want to strike up an oil partnership, give them the bulk share of business control - that puts money in their economy and also eases our burden as far as gas and oil prices go.

That plan would simply not work.

That plan = your plan. And giving the control of the oil business is essentially stealing, its not our country, yet we put our corporation in control? Thats unethical and immoral. Besides, thats a violation of 'dispensing patronage,' i.e. the government unfairly favors a politically affiliated company. Giving the control of oil to Halliburton would create a hegemony over their own oil drilling. And last I checked, that fell under the category of imperialism. Do you really think Halliburton will give all the jobs to the Iraqi's? I don't think so, it will be an American dominated and influenced business where the Iraqi's will most likely have little control, all the while - we exploit their resources.

All I'm pissed about is I'm gonna have to go back there again, soon, making me deployed away from the states for 1 year 9 months out of the last 2 years by the time it's over and thats if all goes well... There's alot going on and alot to be pissed and disappointed with.
