Why i think the karma system is flawed

There was a thread about this a while ago - and almost nobody on NS really cares about their karma.

Obviously you don't care cause yours is zero....
 
i dont really care about my karma i just now started to notice all of these threads saying "help +++++++++karma!"
 
I gave u an ironic 10/10, but ye i really never notice what my karma/others is, i.e. i didnt notice yours was 0 untill someone pointed it out.
 
So why the shit do people always post "+k if you do this!!!" cause everyone cares...
 
yes they do, people on here would perform sexual favors to ryno for more karma, they probably check it every day and get mad when it drops like 10 pointsi used to care but i realized it's completely useless
 
i put his karma at 833, it had to be right, now i have him at 10/10 and i don't know him but it was for the purpose of being truly amazing
 
i personally try to not look at my actual karma( i find the actual karma system kind of flawed, i mean you get karma for posting videos/pictures in the media section, and for being an active member of the site, but whos to say you are positively contributing to the site), or even care about it, the only thing i do look at is the "what other people rate me" just because i can see what people think of me based on what I say, and if i should be less of an asshole in what I say. I cannot speak for everyone, but for the most part I see people saying +k as an attempt to offer something in return for helping someone out, even if karma means nothing to most people.
 
dude be careful what you say..... he might sew you, and last i checked getting poked with needles kinda hurts if he pokes hard enough to break skin
 
I dunno, its kinda a silly system but I think that it has its positives. At least a few people are pretty concerned about their karma and I think are now less likely to make posts like "SEARCHBAR NOOBZZZZ>!>!>!!" and are more likely to actually make a positive contribution. I know that when I read a thread and I think someone has made a significant contribution I give them karma or if they something really really stupid I'll lower it.... I mean whats the harm.
