Why i love the government

so i recently blew out my knee, and besides not being able to ski, i also can not work at my job as a truck driver. Yesterday i got a check from the california state disability department for 1299.37. haha crazy. and i get 337 dollars a week until the end of may, which is when the doctor says ill be healed. so props to the government for being so damn dope!
 
If the government didn't steal all your money in taxes you could have saved alot more than that for a potential injury...

they're just giving you a little bit back, it was your money all along (people seem to forget that)
 
sucks to think about but the world would be a better place if more people did

Really though, why would you love someone/thing because they gave you back a small portion of the money they took from you by force in the first place?

But hey man, its better than getting even less of it back in the form of $100 hammers, no-bid contracts,bridges to nowhere, and military bases in Peru.
 
Actually, he's doing pretty well so far, since I'm assuming he's pretty young (on NS) which means that this could easily add up to as much as or more than he's paid in taxes thus far. (You could argue forever about whether the cost of his education should be added to the disability he's receiving as his total gain from the government.)
 
you should be happy that the government is around and using your money, if the government wasnt paying for cops, you whiny ass would get all sorts of foriegn objects rammed up it by people who dont like bitching

its you duty to give you country a bit back in return for, i dont know maybe jobs like the trashman who might i add lives on a very low salary for having to do a job like that. man all i can think when i here something like that is GREED.

i mean really taxes dont have to be so high, you right, but they are here for a reason and if you dont get that then im not going to explain it any more
 
cops are necessary, but the money to pay cops is only a small part of gov spending, and you def dont know icepointa so i wouldnt say shit like that

around where i live the trash men are usually from ghana, and they work like motherfucking animals for a hardly any money. But taxes dont go to them at all. They work their asses off to make a living. Its the imbred obese trash that lives on welfare that our taxes pay for. People think that even though they have no money because they dont work that they can FUCK eachother, and have kids so that the government will pay them childcare expenses, and they can get a loan to buy a house even though they dont fucking work and make no money, and then when their in huge debt they just look to the government to bail them out as if they were godamn children of the united states government.

i used the garbage man as an example, there are many gov employees out there who get payed by our tax dollars, and if you dont understand than you are a fool.
 
you really think the world would be a better place without government? guess your still in your 7th grade anarchy phase but ok. Anyways sure not everything the government does is the greatest, and sure i dont agree with it all. But having social programs to insure the citizens of this country against old age and against disability is a small price to pay for the overall quality of all of our citizens. You know why you pay for programs like this? well people in this country dont save. they just dont, actually they spend more than they make, i think its around 100.3% of our incomes are spent a year. So say you dont pay taxes and there is no d.i. well what happens when you get hurt? well youve probably spent all your money on new tv's and whatever is being marketed towards you, so you know what. your fucked, noones gonna give you a hand out, noones gonna make sure you can pay rent and eat properly. If this sounds like a good plan for the elderly and disabled then it seems you want a ruthless country that does not care for its citizens at all. So as i said i dont agree with everything our government and shit definitly needs some fixin but i think we have a damn good country, and if you dont think so good move to africa or some shit and tell me how that shit is
 
to thread creator: have you thanked your local property owners, peers owning income taxes and businesses for funding your welfare?

k, first off its not technically welfare, its disability... so you pay into the fund so that when you are hurt u get something back.

also, all the people who are hating are just jealous... if you understood the amount of money im getting right now compared to what i was making while working, you would love the government too.

i am not jealous and i agree that if were paying into the system we should get some sort of compensation. i do believe that it isn't the governments responsibility to take care of us. those tax dollars could be spent much more effinciently if put into a private insurance fund. why is it the government's job to take care of us? providing schools, cops, and highways is one thing. caring for the elderly and severly disabled is another but why must they always be in our lives and wallets?

yes, disability is a welfare program, but not technically because you can choose to not pay into if you want in california, which makes it different from unemployment or social security or welfare

Yea the widespread corruption of social security and medicare such shitty programs.  welfare is terrible too, its much better to have more poor and homeless people.  NS would be such a better place if you went to jail.......but then we would be wasting tax dollars while you got free room and board.

There are tons of people who take more than they put in. I think what this guy(thread creator) did was ok but there are way too many people who claim disability when they are able to work just because they are lazy.
 
AKA people who worked hard to get to where they are today. Any government that will steal from Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.
