Depends on the gaper. Some gapers who skis like for the first time makes hilarious fails with them funny looking clothing and that's entertaining! But there are also gapers who I hate, because they spend time standing on the knuckles and landings of jumps and rails. Basically I'm pretty fine with all kinds of gapers. Haven't met a really stupid gaper yet here in Finland though.
without gapers, my home mountain would have closed 10 years ago. They pay for the snow making equipment and my season pass pays for the electricity bill.
yea iv taught people from india a bunch of times, everytime it was like watching a circus its hard not to laugh sometimes, props for putting up with that on the regs though.
Being dead ass yesterday some guy was telling his daughter to put her tips on the back of my skis so she wouldn't slide backwards in the lift line... i was like "can you tell your daughter not to do that she'll cut up the backs of my skis."
Yeah, I took that one at Jiminy Peak, and while it did keep out some gapers on their day trip, it still took a lot of my time out of my skiing to sit and watch a cheesy-ass video about stuff that I already knew.
i applaud OP for taking the noble side to this predicament but by no means would i say i "love" gaper tourists. 90% of the gts (for gaper tourists) that come to my mountain barely ski and they aren't good. what pisses me off the most is that they don't take lessons. chances of someone who doesn't ski on a normal basis teaching themselves are super low but they try anyways and make it dangerous and annoying for everyone else. gaper tourists and i have a love/hate relationship
