Why I Hated the Transformers Movie

Sadly dissapointed, here's why:

1. Character focus. I wanted to see a movie about ass kicking robots. Instead I got a movie about stupid kids and their cheesy love story, which happened to feature asskicking robots. Fuck the kids, I wanted Optimus Prime developed as a real character.

2. Action scenes. Though the graphics were sick, the camera work was way too shaky and spastic for my liking. I kept thinking about the poor animators who worked so hard on these models just to have them filmed so quickly you could barely see what was going on.

3. Rascism. I'm a Bernie Mac fan, and I was dissapointed in him for playing that lowlife car salesman who hollers at his momma in the yard. And there's no defending a breakdancing robot named 'Jazz' who happens to be the only character killed, and after a brief and emotionless memorial by Optimus is completely forgotten about.

4. General chessyness, stereotypicality, and predictability. Speaks for itself i guess.

Nothing but a generic hollywood movie fitting nicely into every stereotype and prototype available. A disgrace to the greatness of the original series.

Everyone shoudl read Anthony Lane's review of Transformers in the New Yorker. It is one of the most entertaining things I've read in a while.

did you see it in theatres?

and as for some of your expectations, what can you expect from a movie about alien robots. i mean, common.

i rofl'd for your excuse including racism... those are some sad excuses for a movie that is soposed to be for not just older people, but kids. who gives a shit, if you dont like it, why did you pay for it?

i can expect it to be ABOUT the robots! and the rascism certainly was unnecessary. to marsland: as for that not mattering because it's a kids movie, well, that's just retarded. kids are the most vulnerable to racial stereotyping because they don't have the experience to know what is true. and to the final objection I will point out that i couldnt have known it sucked before i payed for it... I apologise to anyone who isnt an idiot and wasted their time reading that last sentance, but apparently some people needed that pointed out.

yeah shes smokin no doubt. but hot girls dont make a movie for me. i can see hot girls walking down the street, in good movies, even naked on the internet, without sitting through a shitty film.

Yo, you got some pretty good points. I still liked the movie and thought it was 'fun', it would've been soooooo sik if they made it with your points in mind though.

i have yet to see it, i almost saw it in italy when it came out over the summer. and don't worry about bernie mac, he's useless.

reason i LIKE transformers the movie: CGI was unreal! perfectly blending into scenery, human interaction spot on, shadowing and light perfect.. they werent too bright so they stood out like other movies..

i dont care how bad the movie was when the robot transformed for the first time you all took a shit and u know it. well if u saw it in theaters.

i thought it was pretty well done. the love story thing was a bit cheesy i agree, but you have to expect that because it's an action movie not a romantic comedy or anything like that. and also, call me shallow but i would watch a movie with meagan fox in it no matter what movie it was. she's a goddess

".......led by Optimus Prime, whose name suggests an ambitious, moist-palmed

young curate out of Trollope—begin gushing sermons like oil. “Freedom

is the right of all sentient beings,” Optimus declares, shortly before

he and Megatron, his opposite number, start cartwheeling through major

conurbations."

haha

whats cool is that pretty much all the stuff exploding in that movie, like buildings having chunks blown out of them, cars flying 500 feet, and alot of the explosions were all done in real life,  it makes the movie so much cooler than doing gay animation.

About 2: I'm sure they filmed it plenty of times to get it right. That's the look they were going for, fast moving cameras, and a bit of shaking to show the force of everything going on. It's a newer more modern way of filming... have you payed attention to any movies over the past few years? you must not like many of them.

when i see a movie with better CGI...i will hate on this movie...but for me that made the movie the way they made it seem like the transformers were so real and interacting with humans...until some other movie comes out that beats the amazing looking robots that almost feel real then i will dislike it...

but i agree with the poor acting.

but i did like bernie macs roll, it made me laugh at least...

i'm down for ripping on movies (ask me about pirates of the caribbean 3 that movie was shit) but i don't know...i kinda just looked past the bad, cause the computer graphics were so amazing :)

I agree with every point you made. This movie just lacked straight up robot ass kickings. I expected 2 solid hours of robots beating the shit out of each other.

I didn't like the shaky camera work, I couldnt tell what was going on and it gave me a headache... in enjoyed the experience of the movie, even though i fell asleep when optimus prime (supposedly) slides a blade out of his arm and slices a robot in half?

i actually liked it....megan fox was loookin FINE.....thats all i got to say and shia lebeauf is one lucky piece of crap getting to make out with her.....i dont really go that deep into movies as you did but i liked it
