Why I hate the East Coast.

i'm glad i seized the opportunity to ski last weekend, otherwise i'd be super pissed right now

seriously no snow has fallen, everything is green everywhere

i mean it could be worse, but it would be difficult

my mountain has been pushed back from thanksgiving, sucks. every year we open like the 15th though so theres nothing new.

east coasters are whiners, you have mountains and powder.

mw has 30-35in snow a year and 300ft vertical garbage piles.

build a rail, buy some turf, and go skiing

pisssssedddd...sugarloaf was supposed to open LAST friday, then they pushed it to Thanksgiving, and now they are saying, hopefully by Dec 1st or 2nd

i just broke my wrist... so no skiing for me until i get out of this long arm cast in late december... but then i have the short arm one.

i think in the two months i've lived in washington it's snowed more than the entire 22 years i lived on the east coast. so while i can sympathize with how much it sucks to be on the east, do whatever it takes to make the move when you get the chance. you won't regret it.

being born and raised and being able to ski out west in legit mountains and stuff is such a priviledge, i don't even know how much different my life would be if i was raised somewhere outside the midwest.

i'm sick and tired of hearing everyone say that the east coast breeds better skiers and that location has nothing to do with it.

false.

the core or progressing is hard work and perseverance, but if you don't have the amenities on which to apply your skills, you won't get very far.

would wallisch be any where near as good as he is if he had stayed at wisp, MD?

hell no.

/rant.

My thoughts exactly. Chill out, let the weather do its thing. You will be skiing in a couple weeks, just have some patience and watch all your ski movies again. Get stoked, winter's coming!

ya man it sucks, i really wanted to ski but my local mountain (mount snow) hasnt opened yet and we dont have any snow

after reading this thread, I have come to realize that i dont think I will ever need to go to the east coast. and i wont be missing ot on anything.

I LOVE LIVING IN OREGON!!!

Have some pride for the east man. Im so glad i grew up in vt skiing the east, but also very glad i moved west because, well everything you said. My favorite people to ski with now that i live in co are from the east because we have tend to have such a better appreciation for the snow and i love and miss the east coast vibe and mentality. If your tired of the conditions take the initiative to move west when ya can, don't know what your situation is. Until then just enjoy whatever skiing ya can get, SKI THE EAST!!!

Western Norway here. It's still green as shit here. I feel you're pain. Hovever, it'll apparently get colder soon, and hopefully we'll get some snowmaking going. Hopefully i'll be skiing in a couple of weeks time.

My home mountain was planning on opening Dec. 5 and now it plans on opening the 12th, which is a day earlier than it did last year. That made me so pumped becasue we had a 3 good pow days in December last year, and this is in CT. I'm just pissed because I think I was expecting too much of northern VT going to UVM as a freshman. I figured it would have been cold a month ago and there would be snow on the ground. Sucks that Stowe isn't open yet but I got to ski Killington the weekend before last and that pumped me up a ton for the season to start.

I hate the east coast as well, just bought all new stuff, dropped over a grand on my stuff, and it won't snow until around Christmas

and patience i went to bretton woods today 15 bucks is totally worth it if you are around i would suggest it

no skiing till the 4th for me. And it's not even supposed to get cold by then so they may have to push it back AGAIN

BOOOOOOOM. the west is full of spoiled people, the east is full of whiny people, and the midwest is full of perfect people. ;)

boot-deep pow at Berthoud Pass on Monday.... but I feel ya dude, I grew up in Maine so I know how it is. Hang in there. snow will come. I had some EPIC pow days @ Jay Last year, that could compare almost to my best pow days in Colorado.

hmm I'd probably still take last year's winter over what we have now. At least last year the season actually started and ski hills could fully open. We even had some pow to go crazy with and get rid of the terrible skiing angst that's been building up all summer. But what do we have now? nothing. This is terrible.

i swear to jesus, if its a green christmas this year. Im going to kill a cute puppy every week until god makes it snow.

Haha, whis has had something like 500cm's of snow fall this November alone. Sucks to be on the east. Thank god I live in Vancouver, my local hill actually opened a week BEFORE their scheduled opening. West is Best!

yeah i hate the midwest for the same reasons. although the east is better though, you at least have somewhat decent hills. my local hill has 300 vertical.

starting early next week in southern/central vt the high won't go above like 30 so even if we don't get natty snow the mtns should be able to keep the guns on for like 10 days straight causing a lot of openings in this area

also 100% chance precip at jay this weekend, 7-11 inches called for

Wow after reading through this I guess I shouldn't be complaining. My mountain is at 2116 feet and this really small one close to my house is only 280ft and that is tiny for me. W'ell lets just hope it snows for all of us and we can all get skiing as quick as possible

Be gratefull you live in a country where you can ski and have easy access to it. Seriously there is always someone worse off than you so if you dont like it do something about it and move west, I can understand if your younger or whatever but if it bothers you that much move out when your older.

I wont get to ski untill December 15th if I'm lucky and my visa arrives on time otherwise its going to be about Christmas time. Plus I have to pay a shitload of money and go through so much crap and work at a resort just to get to ski more than a week a year.

So shut the fuck up.

yup. this is the first time in 3 years i havent skiied pow opening weekend at jay. i dont get to ski at all this weeked =[

I love the East Coast, I just don't want to live there anymore.

" I'm grinding rails and grinding Rocks"

don't worry Tahoe has very little snow right now too. I'll rub it in your face in February

Well I would like to bump my own thread for one reason.Snow has hit the East Coast and Cold Weather all week! Finally winter has come.Taken about 10 minutes ago at the top of my home mountain

Be patient. Ice rink snow sesh every weekend helps. Enjoy something else, lift weights, party, mack with girls, chill w/ friends, anything to take your mind off it.
