Why EVERYBODY Should Wear A Helmet.

At Vail resorts we require al kids under the age of 12 in our ski schools to wear one, and promote the usage of them for anyone, I don't think you can enforce a full resort requirement, but by promoting them and showing the benefits of one more people will start wearing one.

Very true, but nobody should wear those bern helmets with the stupid little brim crap. Heinous

Damn, I'm dumb. Guess I'll just throw it away.

Or continue to wear it for a little longer as it's saved my head thrice at least.

Though I do wish I read more and got the EPS one instead the Hard Hat so I'll be getting one of those ASAP.

debateable

the hard hat is really well suited for skiing park, I have suffered similar accidents in both and the Hard hat version of the Baker I had protected my head better than the EPS version. The EPS is made to destroy itself to save your brain, this means the foam is stiffer and it collapses, this is what happened to mine, the only problem was that the EPS foam became compresses and useless about halfway through my little tree adventure. The hard hat version, which I had had an eerily similar experience with two years earlier, was still a viable protective helmet after the initial impacts

I see; well due to the terrain around here that's what I ski the most.

All I know is that while they're not the best protection they are better than nothing. I hit a tree switch a 3 years ago, broke my left shoulder blade and received a mild concussion. Maybe a better helmet would have prevented that concussion, I don't know. Still better than a cracked skull and/or the loss of a critical brain function.

mski, I was being sarcastic, I'm keeping the thing.

I wear a helmet and think that it's unquestionably worth it but other people can make their own decisions about their personal safety and there is no need to make it mandatory for everyone.

Mmmm, I don't know about that. Seatbelt laws, for example, fall into a similar category, and they've done a lot of good. FYI I'm not doing the typical NS binary-argument thing here (I'm right, you're wrong, that's that!). But I can't see a good reason to let people endanger their safety.

Belligerent pussy. When was the last time an ejected citizen hurt someone? NEVER

All seat belt laws have done is help racial/gender/(or whatever bias) exploitation in the ho-lices favor. If a cop watches a blonde girl (who in "reality" is a crack whore) in a mustang with no belt on drive by he won't do shit. But if a rastafari dreaded/tatted out (who is a religious sober fanatic) drives by he is getting pulled over because he made his OWN decision. Every s/he has his own rights as long as it does not thwart the rights of another. FYI when there is a mandatory helmet law I will start destroying your precious park features. SKIING IS ABOUT FREEDOM. Go watch blizzard of ahhh's you olypmic whores.

Here is a poem to sum my post up.

There is no god but man.

1. Man has the right to live by his own law-

to live in the way that he wills to do:

to work as he will:

to play as he will:

to rest as he will:

to die when and how he will.

2. Man has the right to eat what he will:

to drink what he will:

to dwell where he will:

to move as he will on the face of the earth.

3. Man has the right to think what he will:

to speak what he will:

to write what he will:

to draw, paint, carve, etch, mould, build as he will:

to dress as he will.

4. Man has the right to love as he will:-

"take your fill and will of love as ye will,

when, where, and with whom ye will." - AL I:51

5. Man has the right to kill those who would thwart these rights.

Lol I deliberately try to steer clear of the typical NS mode of internet-argument and immediately get called a belligerent pussy, in bold.

1. That insult doesn't make sense.

2. I really am getting too old for this site.

Bye now.

Passengers without seatbelts can be extremely dangerous to other people in the car in accidents so I guess in that way seatbelt laws are good, but if it's just one person in a car then I definitely disagree. It's simply impossible to protect people from themselves and trying to do so just results in a slippery slope.

hate away I just bought

You realize if you have a traumatic brain injury like I did last year. You have people that need to wait on you hand and foot, when your hurt yourself other people are going to have to pick up the slack it's not just about you and your head.

I owe my helment so much. Last year i went to 2 off a rail and jumped like 4 feet before the end of the rail. (Derp) then i caught my tails into the rungs of the rail. My head bounced off the snow and i would probably have had severe brain danage. That was by far the hardest hit i have ever had.

I will always wear a helment. No reason not to.
