Why don't denver/salt lake have summer dryslope rail setup places

why don't denver/SLC have dry slope setups for people to practice rails in the summer? there's a market for this, at least in SLC, and would only need a tiny plot of land to setup some msnow and tubes. could easily charge $10/head and would be packed 24/7 in the summer if it was a good setup

Because thats not how the world works and skiing requires money-making components to sustain the business model.

Lots of places too that have dry-ramp and/or water ramp setups are hard to just "show up" and practice shit without being an Academy Kid or Coach, at least in the US. Gotta pay to Play.

Its the sad reality of shit. When you factor in liability issues and insurance and shit like that, you can't just build a setup without someone calling their Dad's lawyer whenever they get broke-off. Its just the reality of skiing sometimes :/

could have em sign a waiver but I agree with what you're getting at, not profitable enough at the end of the day

if thats what the kids wanna do , my taxes should support it.

a little ramp under I70 with two features, would be a feasible skatepark style recreational facility

Waivers ultimately don’t mean squat. They might keep the average Joe from personally perusing anything but the health insurance is still going to try to find someone else to pay out and lawyers pick through waivers super easily.

In Denver they have Ruby Hill, free rail garden to the public. Converts to a free bike park in the summer. I'm happy to see tax dollars and donor money go to this kind of stuff.

There really isn't a market for a paid summer rail garden. I'd bet a free one would rarely see the use a bike park or skate part would.

Get with the program dude - start skating or biking. You'll still get better at skiing by honing your endurance and balance....

Yeah I been thinking about this lately and it’s really the best answer. If you’re competing or w.e then skiing 365 makes sense but personally I’m gonna start getting into mountain biking or some shit in the off season. Late spring/early summer days are the best but you need at least a couple months off imo.

Anyone here that hasn’t looked into mountain biking will be shocked how much it translates.

Mtb is insanely expensive to get into, a decent used bike is worth as much as my car

Yeah I never said it was cheap.

I’m just saying it’s fucking rad. And the sport parallels way more than most realize.
