Why does Oakley make it so hard to choose a goggle lens?

I'm getting some Crowbar goggles for this season, but I have no clue what lenses to get. I definitely want a mirrored lens, so I'm thinking either Gold Iridium or Blue Iridium for all-around use, but I'm worried that Gold Iridium will be too dark for flat light and Blue Iridium won't be dark enough for super sunny days. Anybody have input/advice? Thanks.

get blue. it's amazing all the time, even flat light. there's two blue ones though.. one of them if for darker light and one of them is for brighter light...get the darker lense (the one fro brighter days). I think it's the one called blue iridium. favorite lense ever.

i have gold iridium and its pretty good for anything, but not so great for the flat. get the yellow if you'll have a lot of flat days, but then again if it gets sunny that'll suck for that lens

Blue is great in the sun, and in flat light too. There's night skiing where I live, and I still use the blue iridium for nights here (not optimal, but it works).

Pink iridium sounds the best for all-round. I've used persimmon in bright light and been completely fine, and the pink is better for brighter days than that. And it's mirrored. It apparently rocks the grey days better than persimmon too, which is already good for flat/grey conditions.

Yeah dude, so if you got a white suit of course go with the clear lens, because that would look cooler.

And if you have a green suit, "oh fuck, guess I can't go with Oakley anymore!"

sorry, but don't follow this guy's advice. Lenses matter for optics, not looks. Just so happens they usually look sick anyway.

i agree the kids a tard but you ignorant, there are emerald irid lenses

also to thread maker, if your west go with whichever lense is for sunny days, like a fire, or a gold or a black, but if your east coast go with a pink or something because the trails tend to be narrower and there is less sun, so the only time of the day you need to worry about the type of lense on the East coast is like 2-4 depending on the time of season

As I've already stated, my blue iridiums are good for all light conditions here in WNY.

I use them at night even.

I'd go for pink iridium, the most light coming through after the persimmon lense (I believe), and it looks cooler too.

The Fire iridium lenses worked really well in most conditions for me as well. We have night skiing at my hill too. The only complaint with me is on some trails there is a lack of lighting int he corners and such, but unless your goggles are night vision im pretty sure dark is dark.

umm, yeah fire iridiums are made for REALY bright days, not night skiing, for that i'd go with a pink, it lets the most light in for a irid lense

i've used black iridium and fire iridium for every type of skiing and i do fine. whatever you choose you'll be fine basically. possibly not ideal, but don;t think that having a dark lens at night is going to make you blind. your eyes will accomodate.

Oakley has a graphic on their website that gives for a general feel of how they lens will affect your vision and what it will make the snow look like.
