I dont get it, people say they are such shit, and yet i have a pair and think they are sick. The foam core isnt bad, salomons race skis use a foam core. Maybye because people think that salomon is an 'evil corporation', but without companies like salomon, twintip skiing wouldnt be where it is now, they were one of the first commpanies to make twintips, and then one of the first to make bc twintips. I think salomon and other companies need more respect in the freeride movement

Its all about personal preferance... In my opinion salomon is not a evil coorperation and the majority of their products are very well build. foam also is not as bad, its simply another way of building skis. Personaly i like wood core or somthing along the lines of rossi's THC more but to say foam is BAD is wrong. For the most part salomon makes a good product and people should accept that whether is what they want or choose to ride or not

The only reason I don't like them is cause they got those grids on the top sheet. It's so ugly and makes them look like pieces of shit

Signatures are so hot right now

'salomons race skis use a foam core.'

Yeah they do, but the pros that use them throw them out after a day of competition.

i dont understand this salomon hate either. i rode 1080's for 2 years and i loved them. handled better than almost anything else i tried.

salomon sounds like salmon and salmon are gay like rainbow trout

bad construction (inc. edges), bad materials, not rider owned, gash graphics, gash shitty made bindings, not cutting edge anymore, the pro's r leavin salomon 4 other companies, spaceframe is the worst concept 4 a ski ever, flex pattern is shit and they flap all over the place, need i go on?

There comes a time in life when one must risk something or sit forever with one's dreams.

foam cores have alwasys sucked, ride your skis harder then you will find why foam sucks.

not being rider owned is by far the worst reason to not like a company ever and the base material is the same as most other skis. Any anobody who knows what space frame construction is knows it is a revolutionary idea. As far as cap construction, i don't like it but its good for what its made for

yeah....the company has to be doing something right considering their 3 finishes in the top 6 at the most recent comp overseas.....

^in the top six... considering how few companies make race skis out there: Rossi, Atomic, Dynastar, Volkl(i think), Salomon, a few others... not really much of an accomplishment.

alot of high-end skis are foam built. Not only all the high end salomon, but also all the 9s 9x from rossi, and those skis are skis of the year, year after year. and to respond to the guy who's argument that racers threw away there skis after one day cauz they are foam, they will do that with a wood ski also. Salomon brought alot to the ski industry, alot to the freeskiing scene also. more then any core company out there, so respect.

see im not a fan of the weak core. also salomon is run by addidas, who uses slave labor.

ok, get this straight. salomon did not put the 1080 on the market. if it wasnt for the freestyle team ( mike d, JF, JP, vinnie, ect) BEGGING them to give them some kind of freestyle ski, it would never have happened. and besides that, they never even let the team have any influence in the design or anything. they were reluctant to make it in the first place, and obviously the are reluctant to change it (only ONE minor redo in the 7 years its been out. thats fuckin gay. and yeah, the construction isnt designed to give thew rider a great, dependable ski, its designed to be super cheap for salomon, so they can make $$$. salomon is a big corperation, owned by a bigger one. they arnt there to make good skis. they are in it for the mula. thats not cool. and i used toi have the old white 720s, which were almost identical to the old 1080s. they were great ski skis, but they sucked on jumps or rails, the bindings blowed (id prerelease like nothing when they were at 10+, and i only weighed about 145 at the time, and wasnt going big.

salomons are shit. period. if you think they are good, go ride any other ski. you'll shit your pants.

in science class i sat down to fast and you know how you can sit on your balls. well i did and i sat down really fast and crushed them and right when i sat down i started puking and fell out of my chair. they teacher laughed. i felt like i could pass out i wanted to die.-*NWFT*nUkkA

i had some 1080s for almost 3 years and they wore out in like the first month and the're soft as crap now i was able to bend them 90 degrese easily.

its because everyone hates big corporations.

they don't have the most influence from their riders, but they did let two of them design they own pro models, so saying they have none is another ignorant commment

I don't like noodles. Woodcore's have proven themselves to give plenty of pop, and when matched with a carbon fiber for reflex, and kevlar for elasticity, it's unbeatable.

I found the 1080's to be super soft, probably because of the foam core, so maybe that's why.

I used to have a pair. Very light, nice in pipe, but not much of a 'boss' ski tho. They would get their asses kicked in crud, and didnt feel too sturdy at warp speeds.

with the spaceframe and moncoque ((ha I said coque)Spelled wrong I know)the 1080 can be as stiff if not more stiff than many wood core skis. I think they make good skis, I'm buying something else, but that is my preferece. They still make good skis.

they fall apart quick and warretys r a bitch. i know people who have gone through 4 pairs in a season. salomons racers throught out there skis at the end of a comp cuz they turn to noodles and loose proformance that fast. and its the same with 1080s and u wonder why people hate salomon?...

dont get it twisted

You should hear the sound there skis make when someone goes ripping down the hill on those cold icy days, you will never want to buy a pair of Salomons after that.
