Why does Killington feel it is so necessary to open first.

Killington kind of annoys me as to how every year for these past couple they need to beat out Sunday River by 1 day to say they opened first. Why? Does it really drive that many people to your mountain to know you opened first each year?

From what i understand Sunday River currently has much better snow making conditions and they always make their announcement and then Killington counters. Its cool you get to say you were first but when you are clearly doing it to spite a competitor it rubs me the wrong way.

Part of their advertising is having the longest season so if they don't hold up to their word, people will be complaining about that too. It shouldn't rub you the wrong way that a mountain is opening early in my opinion. More skiing the better!

Killington has always had the saying the longest season on the east coast so by opening first, it means there already a day ahead of most other mountains. I wouldn't get upset at this though.

Why would you even complain about this..

arent they both owned by boyne? or was that just back with ASC?

especially back when asc owned everything i could never understand the competition between the hills

Awesome marketing.

Arguably Best snowmaking system in the country with temps early that others do not.

Best out the competitors and do it better. Thsts the name of the gsme.

Sunday river should have announced it when it was too late for killington to get their act together and get open.

I agree, Just be like, Oh hey, by the way we're going to open tomorrow.

I don't ride killington anyway. Place has a weird vibe to me.

at this time of the year many skiers get desperate for skiing. If only 1 resort is open every body is gonna go to it bringing with them lots of money. Even if its for one day.

Wait, you're upset about resorts competing against each other to offer lift serviced skiing to their customers as soon as humanly possible?

don't complain about getting to ski in mid October, the closest hill to my house opens in about a month and a half, i need skiing so much right now and Im getting to the point where I'm considering skiing on grass like totally trevor

yeah, i mean c'mon, its not like skiing is a thing you only have a limited time to do, and like we all hate it any way, fuck, might as well not open at all right op?

they dont call it killington "the mountain were the asshole executives assert their dominance of the east coast skiing market by opening first a day before sunday river every year" mountain for nothing ill tell you that

last season they were open till may 25th. I think they still win regardless

Yeah, they usually beat Sunday River by about a month. The 2013-2014 season The River closed April 21 and Killi closed may 18.

Because you will literally get more people to show up for the WROD than you will in the spring with a mountain covered in snow.

That last day at Sunday was a blast, what nice conditions. It was so warm.

If they open before troll, then a lot of people go. Until troll opens lol. Everybody left wild within the last 5 years because of how shit it's gotten.

Capitalism? Free market? We live in america its the same thing as gopro trying to one up a new camera or apple with new iphones, etc.
