Why does everyone hate us?

yesterday i was at school and i had at least eight people make fun of me for skiing. I never attacked them in any way, in fact most were my "friends". So i ask you why does everyone hate us?
 
because. people think snowboarding is the cool thing to do, and people think skiing is the emo thing to do.

but i bet 3 quorters of the people that made fun of you snowboard like 5 times a year and think there the next ones to get sponsered, yet cant ride down anything past "blue square"
 
because they relize that skiing is acutally starting to be cool, and they all probably play football, and they have no culture with their sport, so because the "jelouse" even though they will never admit it they just try to put you down to make them selves feel good about being a dumb jock
 
same thing at my school...kids are like skiing is sooo gay and shit like that...gets kinda old after a while
 
yeah, theres one skier at my school, a couple recrational skiers who think there all that cause they "freestyle" ski, and snowboardes who cant ride.
 
why would you make fun of a skier. were more gangster than the cursid snowboarders. we can go bigger further and faster. and our tricks are more fly
 
Yeah I play football and ski, its not like it can't be done. I'm defenently not a jock though, all those fuckers go around town shooting people with blow darts and shit, thats how gay the jocks are here. They don't hate me because I play football, but they generally don't make fun of any of the skiers or anything, we kinda do our thing and they do theirs. It's not like anyone gives a shit if a couple fags on steroids hate us anyway.
 
everyone snowboards because it is the cool thing to do and skiing is just starting to get bigger now. But most of the snowboarders on the hill cant even do a 360 and can only do 50-50s on rails and if you see a person on twins on the hill you know that they can do at least somthing because we are cool. All the snowboarders do is sit on top of the hill and watch kids ride down and do tricks. Then ride down, do nothing, and get on the lift to come back up
 
i completely disagree with what you said about the twins. that doesnt nessesarily mean your any good. it just means that you might be good, or you might be a poser.
 
people that think skiing is gay and stuff, ive asked them why they think that it is and they say, "it just is" and i take that to mean that they hear everybody else insulting it and they say the samep but there no reason for it, seriously
 
At my school everybody think that skiing is really cool and that it's starting to get a lot of expansion, a lot of snowboarders are going to sart skiing.
 
the funny thing is that most people that i know that have been riding for a while and most of them skiied before any of them snowboarded and they just converted. but this year me and my other friend have accutally talked some of the girls into coming back to skiing.
 
People hate us because its not cool. But give it time and everyone will ski. Just how everyone started to like Madonna again. Its just the way things work.

The other day i was at my local shop looking at their new adds.

They all had a pic of a snowboarder goin big tweakin a grab, and the ski pics were women or older men on some elans or or straight skis crusing down the hill.

Why u ask THATS who buys skis..Its marketing ooo well
 
No matter what we do, the image of skiers as downhill racers in spandex with conehead helmets, is always in the back of people's minds. We're never going to be as cool to the general population as snowboarders, so we just need to get over that and ski. If people don't like us, fuck'em. Some people are just ignorant to things they have no real knowledge of, and you can't lower yourself to that level and give a shit.

Believe me, I'd kill for skiing to be "cool". Think it pisses me off when that hot chick in the lodge is necking with that ugly boarder who bailed doing a straight air in the pipe, DAMN STRAIGHT IT DOES. But at least here in PA we'll always be in the dust behind snowboarders, and frankly... I don't give a fuck anymore.
 
Dude it's so much better with skiing not being cool. in the mid nineties all the fag kids with a ski club were totally clogging the mountains sitting on their snowboards and walking down because they were too scared. they were inspired by the early snowboarders who were core and invented the park. thats not what i want skiing to become but i don't know about you.
 
o i totally agree with you there, but I guess I was referring to "being respected" more than "being cool". Like people thinking that we're a bunch of fags who have gay monkey sex after we leave the park. Maybe i just have a snowboard up my ass idk.
 
heres the way it is if you get respect form good snowboarders like guy how accually ride and throw down then don't worry about the other bitches cuz they would still hate even if you snowboarded
 
Thats because in the Early 90's the shittyest decade in history.. snowboard, media, and marketing companies needed to devise a hook to make more money. So the marketing people made a profit of brain washing society that skiing was lame. Eventhough snowboarding is easy as riding a sea do or a quad. It takes little skill, and in two years one could be a pro snowboarder if they were on the hill enough. They needed to create a division to make there sport look bigger and more rebelious. Well now that every gaper, yahoo and thier grandama is on a snowboard it is obvious how easy it really is to master...and we all know that its not rebelious at all to be a snowboarder. And if you really look at both sports skiers are busting way bigger tricks with higher amplitude, and have always been able to go bigger, further, and faster. That is just reality.

Whenever i wear my i'm a skier t-shirt i get so much shit. All from my friends, who all snowboard, i am the only skier. That shit pisses me off so much

pretty damn wise words there. I totally agree with you. Snowboarding was viewed as stupid and pointless when it was first started. So they broke themselves off, and made us look like stuck up stiffs. American youth goes crazy at the sight of rebellion and before you know it, snowboarding is cool, and skiing is gay.

Real snowboarders know where it's at though. I've stuck up for quality guys on the hill and they've stuck up for me. I think the problem of respect comes from everyone else, not the boarders or skiers.
 
i live in colorado there are three kinds of people, relly good snowboarders who are sweet and pretty cool, than there is freeskiers, there are five of us that can lay down anything good and then there are the people who snowboard because they think it is cool and they are the ones make the fools of them selfs by makeing fun of freeskiers when we actually can do more than turns
 
I ride with mainly snowboarders and a few skiers. I think the boarders who actually "Know" how to board give respect to skiers. So i agree that the shitty poser boarders who go up once a year are the ones who think skiing is gay. Although my friends always joke with me about skiing being gay, so we always make fun of them too.
 
where i ski and live its true. You see a million boarders who cant do shit. But then you see only 4 skiers on the hill that can hit up rails and jumps
 
well i was at a drunken party and i had a goggle tan and some kid was like yo you board??? and i was like nah im a skier, so he laughed and called me a fag. ended their, so my friend is just chilling and some shit gets started so dude man is just like yo this punk ass and his little fag skier friend think they can fuck with this...... so i throw the first punch, and an entire full house got into a brawl and well it was my boy ryan white and me.....i got a beer bottle broken over my head, but we fucked up some shit, some kid took some pictures of it all, i will post em in a bit.
 
Everybody at my school tought skiing was gay and it was all about racing and spandex and shit, and I proved them rong by filming some of my skiing and some of other peoples and some pros and things, and shoed it to the whole school at the end of the year. I dont get any shit anymore.
 
yea the only two good snowboarders in my school know skiing and boarding are two different ways to lay down in the park. the stupid poser snowboarders say skiing is gay even though the ski crew rips them to shreds.
 
i kinda recognize myself, i made this wallflip in school and everyones like: yeaah man du you snowboard? and im like no man im a f****** skier!!! And everyones like: man you should really snowboard...

that sucks!!
 
yea, I'm a skier obviously, and my best friend is a boarder. He know's where it's at, we ride together, and give each other props for throwing down. Anyways, our friend, who happens to be a girl, wanted to get into this kind of stuff, and so we said we would take her to the mountain with us. Anyways, she goes to rent stuff, and decides to board. I'm like, why'd you decide to board instead of ski? She just says "It's cooler."

I was about to punch her in the face.

Anyways, my buddy started laughing so hard, cause we always make fun of each other for doing the other sport.

anyways, it was a sick day, but I was still kind of erked
 
all these idiots that talk shit about skiing come from some bullshit no name place thats got no ski culture to begin with...i have to put up with them myself but you know what i surf skate and can snoboard but i can do more with my skis and thats where my allegiance lies so i say f*** those guys if the came from anyplace that had real boarders and skiers theyd change their tune....tell them to take a ride out to squaw mammoth and tell me then that skiing's gay....idiocricy is all it is
 
THey just realized how gay they really are. I think you should take them skiing and make them use skis, they'll shut up after that
 
but I always hate it when boarders just sit around in the park in groups. They just sit there. I never know if I should wait, and if they are waiting to hit something, or if I should just go.

I don't want skiing to become like this, where groups of park rats just sit around.

This is what happened when everyone thought snowboarding was cool, and it started to sell out. now there are a lot of posers who can't do shit, and just board to "be cool" and not for the fun of it.

If skiing becomes like this, I quit. This is one reason I am starting to tele. It's less fags sitting around, and more people who enjoy it
 
it was funny, like 3 days my friend who is already a really good snowboarder came up to me and said he wants to start skiing and asking what stuff he should get. then later this kid who just started snowboarding and he really sucks, was like why the hell is spencer gonna start skiing, then i said, "cause its cool and its better than being like everyone else in the world and doing what everybody else does" then my buddy who is gonna start skiing, told him its just as cool, and probably more stylie, and all this stuff.

then ive got another friend who is really really good at snowboarding and he says skiing is cooler cuause its alot harder and it takes alot more dedication to do it when people think skiing is gay and stuff.

so pretty much everyone who hates skiing are the stupid people who snowboard twice a year and are like " wait isnt snowboarding the cool thing now?" and the people who actually know what its about think its cool.
