Why does Columbia look like ass?

How does a company that professionally makes outerwear for decades make such utterly ugly stuff? I’m not hating, I literally want to know why/how it’s such ass. I want to know who the weirdo in the company is who is keeping the normal designs from getting produced. Good designs must occasionally get put on his/her desk, but only to be rejected. They even tried having an ad campaign here on NS and they couldn’t get the fits to look any less ass. What’s up?

The typical Columbia customer is a normie that wants the normie look. Columbia knows their market. I pretty much have a permanent pass to the Columbia employee store, and I can count on one hand how many things I have actually bought. Even with Mountain Hardwear and Prana being 2 of their brands.

I got a Columbia jacket on sale like 2 years ago and it's the best jacket I've owned, it's just a blue jacket but it does what it's supposed to.

Bro have you never been there? Columbia looks amazing and I definitely want to get there someday. I hear the rivers are absolutely insane.

They’re sponsoring a lot of pro skiers now including Taylor Seaton and Sarah Hoefflin. I think the biggest thing is it’s marketed towards cheaper price and a different demographic. They cut costs on tiny things that serious skiers would notice like pit zips, seams, etc.

Tell me you're a new wave swerve fanboy, without telling me you're a new wave swerve fanboy

I love all the Columbia stuff I have. Pretty much brand loyal for the socks, love my pfg sun hoodie, have a fleece I wear all the time and grabbed a pair of hiking boots from the employee store once for like $35.

Columbia coats and jackets seem to hold up pretty well, they are just always there being a good little coat or jacket, not looking fancy or cool, but also never getting to the point of being thrown out. Sure its a dad brand, and due to its ability to hold up for strangely long periods of time it is also a grandpa brand. But hey, you can snag them for cheap sometimes and they seem to be fairly good quality.

Some Columbia stuff looks nice imo. It's a large company with a large and diverse customer base so I think it's natural that they put out a lot of stuff that doesn't look good or appeal to us

I tested out some columbia omni tech gear last season at my resort on a rain day (late season) and it blew me away with how well it works compared to my goretex. More breathable and just as good at keeping water off. Definitely recommend to anyone on a budget, or just trying to ski on warmer days without worrying about grease dripping onto their expensive jackets.

I have like 4 columbia fleeces and I don't remember ever purchasing one, they just propagate somehow.

I can second this, it seems as though they materialize in my closet

I wear a lot of the PFG stuff when I go fishing in Florida and it’s up there with Simms and Patagonia for quality

I wouldn’t wear a columbia shell in the winter but I must admit most of their mid layer/ base layer gear and accessories like socks and undies are top tier; I could say the same for HH, Eddie Bauer, and North Face gear although HH and North Face also got some nice jackets and beanies/ clothes I would wear. I feel like Columbia definitely is winning in the women’s market they also got a strong grip on children’s outerwear and the wealthy elderly also like their stuff;

I’ve owned a few Armada jackets and could not dig the quality at all they always seem to fall apart But they definitely have more appealing style

all in all I still prefer all these brands over DOPE snow and Montec

My puffer from them was cheap and it’s warm as fuck. Simple solid colors and designs, and shits inexpensive. Plus their pants have perfect form for baggage if u size up

Alex Ferrera usually has some cool stuff. I really liked the red jacket he had in his newest IG edit flatspinnig into highlands bowl.
