Why do you think Heroin use is making a big comeback?

I guess it's lucky heroin is so hard to get in Australia. Opiates really aren't huge here, I know very few people that do them as opposed to uppers and juice.

i've been around the block a few times...mostly when i was younger. i mean, don't get me wrong, i have a professional career, own my own house, a few cars, boat, etc., so i'm not some degenerate robbing and stealing to support a habit. these drugs aren't something to be taken lightly. if you aren't careful, they'll chew you up, spit you out, and leave you in a trail of destruction wondering wtf happened to your life. that being said, if you can stay on top of your game, and don't let the tail wag the dog, they're by far the best class of drugs on the planet, imho.

so now that we've got that out of the way, in response to your question...realistically, don't even try it. you'll never go back. and the stats aren't in your favor that you'll keep it in check. it is possible, but not probable.

well, if you're ever in the hospital, they don't really give you a choice on iv administration. but i most certainly would not recommend taking it to a recreational setting. you'll never consume anything any other way ever again. if it's bangable, you bang it. just don't go down that path.

kids get hooked on OC's and then their wallets run dry and apparantly H has similar effects and is 1/4 the cost.

it can kill you if you forget that the patch strip is in your mouth while fucked up, or if you accidentally swallow it.

not too fucked up I guess, as long as you are responsible; just like most other drugs

it's really clean feeling. Not really any rush, but decent nod. idk, the stuff is ok, but nothing to really write home about. I wouldn't ever go out of my way to find it.

My best friend passed away from Fentanyl. He was like my brother. His grandmother had passed away a week before him. He got into the safe where his mom had his grandmother prescriptions. He rung the liquid out of the patch and onto a bowl of weed, and smoked it. He ended up getting sick in the middle of the night, and took his waste paper basket into his walk in closet to throw up with out waking anyone up.

His mother found him sitting Indian style hunched over the garbage can the next morning dead.

Worst day of my life, not one day goes by that I don't think of him. Opiates are terrible.

So many ifs. I'm honestly pretty scared for you guys. My options were so much more limited in college, and even weed wasn't that easy to get in high school. There were a few guys I graduated high school with, that I later found out were on Coke from about halfway through their sophomore years.

In college, we had shrooms, acid, mescaline, pot, coke, and Crystal Meth was just starting to be seen on campus. Even back then you always had to be worried about where the stuff was coming from. I knew guys who dealt coke and I know what they used to cut it. If you were lucky, they cut it with procaine. Many of them used whatever they had laying around.

Dealers will usually get hooked on their own product. As they use more, they add more cut to what they sell. My limited understanding of the culture now is that dealers are getting more creative when it comes to cutting. I've heard of heroin being somehow added to pot and other drugs as well. The fact that it is so cheap would make it more likely to be used as a cut for something else.

Bottom line is that it is way more dangerous for you guys than it was for me and my college buddies. That said, my college roommate drank himself to death about a year ago. He was in a really fucked up relationship. Apparently their favorite activity was binge drinking. She broke up with him, he went on a binge and never woke up.

Not preaching, but I can't think of anything good that came out of any of the drugs I used. Mostly, I just think about how lucky I am that nothing super bad happened. It wasn't safe for the gen Xers, but there are so many more things that can go wrong for you guys.

My kids are still in elementary school but I know this is the kind of stuff that is going to keep me up at night in a few years.

It's a triple threat.

1. The usual kids run out of cash and turn to H to feed their oxy issue.

2. Drop in pill availability.

3. Heroin is generally much more pure than it used to be. Shooting up is scary to your average person, but when you tell them they can now rail a line, they're suddenly down. That's even kind of how it is for me.

nah its about the same purity, but the mexicans now cut it with powdered fent because its easier/cheaper to produce. when they cut it with powdered fent, it makes it stronger and surprises users, killing them.

as for opiate use, like said above, as long as you can keep it under control and not let it take you over, you'll be ok. when you do it 3 days in a row is when the downhill roll begins, and most people don't notice it or have the worry to fight back and stop it early.

I'm with you, I've never understood the appeal of doing opiates recreationally. Whenever I've been prescribed them they've just made me super itchy, nauseous, and overall more miserable than if I was just in pain. I'd rather just take tylenol than feel like crap because of those, never seemed like they really did much to touch the pain anyway.

I have an absurd tolerance for opiates for seemingly absolutely no reason, so I've never been able to really enjoy most pain pills until I found dilaudid, which was a lot of fun. but I know I can't do it a lot. I've heard from other kids that they fell over after taking one of the same pills I usually take two of, but I feel just right.

Its getting extremely easy to get your hands on where I live. Ill actually see needles laying on the ground around my town, and an article recently came out in my local paper about the heroin problem stating that its starting to become easier to get than a dime.

yeah its because of the crackdown on oxy. Recently, a good portion of oxy tablets have been reformulated to gum up when crushed into a powder/snorted... rendering then insufferable. So this change even further pushes users/addicts to use heroin when they may have otherwise used oxy (or other narcotics)

if everyone smoked a joint here and there or a lot when needed, we wouldnt have such a big heroin issue. but there will always be people who want heroin, theres no feeling like it, i was addicted to Morphine when in the hospital because they gave it to me so much and it makes you feel so insanely....good. the sideffects of heavy oppiate cant be far from injecting poison into your veins

actually, almost exactly the opposite. there really are no long term physical side effects from opiate usage, i.e. it doesn't eat away at your brain, destroy your liver, etc. It's the general lifestyle surrounding heavy opiate usage that causes the problems.

in the last couple months there have been like 3-4 deaths from heroin use, shits fucked up. One of the guy who died ran the local rink so i knew him pretty well. My rule of thumb on drugs is stay the fuck away from anything other than weed

People get introduced to opiates thru pain killers, which are awesome, and then switch to heroin because its relatively strong but stll cheap. Ive used alot of heroin, and its sort of love/hate. Heroin is a decent drug tho. But if you want the best cleanest opiate high you gotta go for somethinf like dilaudid (hydromorphone) or fentanyl

I almost always get uncut pure heroin. I iv it and iv never had complications. Needles are cheap as are alcohol swabs and lighters to sterilize it

freebasing is what you called 'chase tha dragon'. snorting is called snorting or railing. learn your drug terms before you get all uppity with them.

So glad you were the last comment, this goes to any and all of y'all who think that you can do heroin recreationally.. you can't. I mean, you might be able to for a while, but one day that shit will catch up to you. You can be as smart, rich, 'on top of your shit' as you want and you can still die in an instant. If you're looking for an example, take the most recent opioid-related celebrity death, Cory Monteith, aka that guy from Glee. Here's a guy who was handsome, rich, famous, had a beautiful girlfriend, kept his shit on lock at work, then would head out to Vancouver and party. One misjudged evening, it's all gone. And his family, his girlfriend, his friends are all that's left and they have to pick up the pieces of the life that he shattered. Just to get high.

I always said that I would never ever touch heroin, I knew it'd be too good. All of you who think that you can control it, wag that tail instead of it wagging you ... I hope to god that you don't ever find out how bad it will fuck you up. You and everyone who has ever loved you or cared about you. Fuck that shit and all you stupid fuckers trying to say that it's no big thing.

Word. And yet, you're still potentially one blast away from a hot bag that ko's you. But, don't worry, your parents will understand and take solace in that you appreciated the finer things!

Another sob story; kid I was pretty good friends with and rode a bunch with during winter was at a kickback last year, decided to try it for his first time and ended up overdosing that night. Shitty way to go out for a good kid, he just got caught up that "scene" and it sure didn't help going to Chico State.

Even if my batch was 100 percent pure i still dont bang enough to kill me. If it was cut with fentanyl thats a different story but thats very rare to find. Dope cut with fent has killed alot of people

I know alot of users who try to get way higher than i ever do and they are fucking passed out and unresponsive every time. I dont shoot for the moon like they do. In my opinion its fucking reckless and stupid what they do. If they got a hot batch for sure they would be in danger of oding. Go ahead and think what you wanna thing you tool

Then you'd still be an idiot for doing heroin. Lots of smart, gifted, talented people have done hard drugs. Does that make doing drugs smart? No, in fact many of these people died using drugs. I'm sorry your statement makes it pretty clear that you are an idiot.

What'd you think I meant by a hot bag? It's "rare" and yet it still happens. If you're also banging coke, well, just don't miss.

But, please, tell me more! I'd especially like to hear more about the part where you're the first dope fiend ever to not develop a tolerance and begin pushing more. I've never met anyone who shoots dope and has a superiority complex and scoffs at the consequences because they're smarter than everyone else! I mean, you got into a really prestigious school!

1. highly doubt that. what university do you attend?

2. if so, then I would say you are downright retarded for throwing your life away. Sure, you may be fine for a year or two. But twenty? Tell me with a straight face that you can keep this habit for twenty to twenty five years without dying and I will show you a liar. Assuming you are at university right now, I would bet some serious money that you will not make it pass 50 years old

I guess my point didn't come across as intended. It was really just smart people can make bad or 'stupid' decisions.

guys can we all be nice to the kid with an addiction its a serious illness.

since hes not "shooting for the moon" hes just keeping his withdraws at bay.
