Why do we film?

Why do some of us focus so much of our time on filming throughout the season? To show off? To age claim and get 12 year old kids sponsored? Why not just enjoy the shred and take the stress of filming off of the season.

I actually like it haha. Just skiing is hella fun, no doubt. But when I film with my friends we just take it easy, chill, pick out things, and go for it. Only difference is there's a camera. It's still skiing, but I dont do intense/hardcore filming so that may be why its not stressful for me...

when my friends and I film its for fun and to play back the tricks their really hyped on the only stress part is the editing

to capture the shit that we love doing. showcasing progression and accomplishments plays a big part of that. (Hiking urban for 1 hour to get a solid shot)

I like it because whenever I watch an old edit it brings back memories. Definitely not making any really awesome edits, but they are always fun to look back on, even though I hate my style.

i didnt film at all this year and it is wayyy more fun to just hot lap. Im kinda at a point where its hard for me to progress so i just chill and do tricks i already know

i film because its another way to be creative with skiing or just life. It helps me cherish memories as well. its a hard question, because the answer is almost too simple to explain.

I film so I can claim all my steely stunts and daring maneuvers.

No, actually I film because I want to share the stoke of skiing, and because my talents definitely lie behind the camera and not in front of it.

It's fun for me. If you don't like it don't do it. Should force yourself to do stuff if you're participating in the sport to have fun.

I do it so I can make money. I film kids in the park so that I sell the videos to pedophiles with the title of the video "12 year old lipslides a massive rail".

Were you editing something and then watched Cosmos?

Is your familiarity with keyboard shortcuts creating existential questions?

Wait, ... or are u just 420'd?

It might be a little narcisstic, but I just love watching a banger trick of me. It doesn't give you quite the feeling when stomping something sick, but you sort of re-feel it a little...

also, mostly when we film I try out harder stuff, try to concentrate even more on style etc.

and after stopping filming some of these things remain, so it kinda helps progressing

also editing... it's stressful if you have a deadline but making edits is actually quite fun, same goes with filming, if you're injured filming is actually quite interesting because it's not as simple as many think

last but not least watching myself helps me progress as in I can see what I do wrong or on what I have to improve, also you get a better impression how a trick looks compared to how it felt

Filming is a way to share the sport, to show another image than just what you see in the x-games and Olympics. Would Newschoolers would be as sick without all these edits on the front page?

Skiing edits is a huge part of the sport, other types of skiing like urban skiing probably wouldn't even exist without ski videography.

filming is sort of different for me because I love to film. and I'm usuaully the filmer. Getting a perfect shot gets me as hyped as the guy who stomped the trick

i film because i like to edit. i like to take footage of my favorite sport, footage of people i know doing my favorite sport and try to create a viewing experience as good as i get from watching a really well made edit. its not stressful its intriguing to see everyones style skiing and editing and how it portrays a certain message to the viewer. i would never have gotten into freestyle skiing if other people hadn't made edit and it want to bring that fun to other people

It's got its ups and downs. That's why I don't always film. Every couple weeks or so or if I have a minor injury that I don't want to make worse I'll break out the camera. It's a lot of fun to film once in a while too and I always enjoy making edits.

for me, on the rare occasion that I am able to produce a quality edit with decent riding and filming, it is a really rewarding feeling. I also like editing a lot.

Same reason we take photos. To document our lives/activities we do, but we get a much better feel through film/video versus photos.

Also, I would definitely say that filming can be stressful at times, but the reward completely outweighs the stress.

Would people push urban to the level it is today without being filmed? i don't think so. I don't think this applies to other parts of skiing but I don't think urban skiing would exist if athletes weren't being filmed.

one day i was making a porno starring me and myself and i was like it'd be cool to film me masturbating and skiing fast forward 420 years and im still jerkin it on the jeronimos

why do artist paint?

Some people like to create stuff. catch a feeling and try to pass that feeling on by example create art like ski videos on newschoolers.com.

even doe you may cause your self some stress doing it. you often get a satisfying feeling when you finish your work, and achieve your goals.

What I figured as far, life is pretty much meaningless. so for most people its really important to create a meaning to your self, (here most people just "choose" to try to be rich)

its also in the humans nature since way back to try to prove him self in the herd to try to be the leading male n get women n stuff.

If you feel that you can just ski and be happy with only skiing its self. I definitely think you should just ski n be happy dude.
