Why do we always get f'ed up throwing tricks we can land?

I have still yet to grasp this, on why one always gets hurt the worst throwing something that they stomped all day, but then one time everything just goes really wrong.

I tend to lose focus late in the day and start eating snow. I usually just leave or stop riding the park for the rest of the day and just ski.

you get over confident and throw stuff when your tired and don't put as much effort into it. Happens to everyone

yeah i got over confident throwing 7's and just ate it hard and messed up my knees. i think you just grow tired and think its easier then it is and end up crashing.

oh i know my friend had been throwing way stylish 3's over a pretty big jump all day and on one of his last runs he just messed up a little bit and ended up getting a concussion

agreed i was in whistler and i was just floating some threes on a jump that i did not need a lot of speed on. i came in to the jump slower than ever after nailing it a few times. i cased very badly and hit my jaw off of my knee. i almost broke my jaw.

Most likely because we throw tricks we can land much more frequently than those we can't.

Just to point out the obvious.

daamn this is soo true! i messed up my lcl and mcl on a sissy jump like i hit jumps 3X bigger than that ( not claiming it was small) and then i go and tear my acl on an up box!!! like are you fucking kidding me!! but its true i think its because you just know its easy to do and you get lazy and dont even try. Sorry end of rant i miss skiing soo much and i hate being home all day everyday while my friends are up at the mtn skiing such sick a park.

When I get f*ed up its usually within the first ~5 hits of the day...

Beeing like overconfident and trying too hard.

big jump at momentum this summer hittin it sw for awhile gettin comfortable forgot to take in that each run the inrun gets a little softer/slower...dropped in same spot went sw 7 knucked hard fucked up my shoulder it sucked

yeah, you get burnt out of the same trick. Get too comfortable...

I switch it up throughout the day.. but i dont leave the park.

The inspiration for this thread was that my friend messed himself up bad on Easter. He went for a 7 (landed many times) on a kicker we built the day before. It was just after lunch and when he took off he went corked and stayed corked. As soon as he passed 3 and his skis were still rotating on the same axis we knew he as going to crash, just didn't know how bad. When we get to him he's unconcious and having trouble breathing (luckily he had a pulse and yes he had his helmet on.) Ski patrol gets there and we wind up having to medevac him. Long story short, he's done for until 2010. He's touch and go in the ICU right now.

He's part of the NS community so keep him in your thoughts (see 'So I busted my head', its the same guy)

i broke my collarbone on a fucking backflip... A BACKFLIP its so fucking gay... only plus is to my non skier friends it sounds super badass

I have a knack for hurting myself on roads while getting somewhere I could hurt myself. This past december I blew my knee skiing about 10mph on a road--on my way to hit some 20-25' cliffs. Last summer my worst bike wreck was on the access road between DH trails doing about 40mph. Luckily I just did the most epic penguin slide ever, but it was still an ego-killer.

i always fuck up cab 5s. i have em on lock and then ill just randomly catch my tip and one ski it to my face.
