Why do some skiers act "gangsta" or "ghetto"?

Then there are some non-white skiers who are ghetto cuz thats where they were born and raised. For instance ahmet. Dude's poor as fuck, only kid skiing at bristol christmas morning cuz his parents don't have the money for christmas presents. The shack where he lives with his 5 brothers and sisters is in the middle of nowhere, boarded up and hood. Mom picks up a second job working at the mountain for the free season passes otherwise no skiing that winter. You walk into that house and u see guns just chillen on the floor. 20 kids in his graduating class, no white kids... He's not trying to act ghetto, he just is.

I agree, i started this thread to learn how it started and when, i already know why they do it. And stop lowering my karma just because i was interested in where and when this trend started, that is just immature.
 
I'm honestly almost ashamed to be a skier these days. It's become a joke and "pro" skiers just look like jokes. This gangster attitude is gonna kill the sport. And don't claim that "comfort" shit because having a saggy 6xl tall tee thats crusted over with ice and weighs 20 pounds isn't comfort haha.
 
People need to get it through their heads that wearing over sized baggy clothes and listening to rap music doesn't make you a "gangsta". To me, it just sounds like such an ignorant stereotype. I wear XL outerwear and tall tees because it's very loose and I just so happen to like loose clothing while I ski, rather than wear fitted outwear because it makes me feel constricted.

I just happen to think it looks nice and it makes everything you do in the park look way more clean, even if you happen to land really sketchy or something. And as far as making the sport look bad... What audience are we looking bad in front of? I'm sorry but I really don't give a shit if some one happens to think I look bad or look like a clown. I'm not dressed to impress, it just happens to be a style of clothing I like.

If it was "gangsta" or "ghetto", then you would see people running around with Tec 9's in one hand and a 40oz in the other, throwing gang signs and what not, and maybe even selling crack. Cause that fits the stereotype and that's what were doing as skiers when we wear this stuff right?

pointless thread. but to humor you i think it has to do with ties to music, at least for me. I don't act gangsta or ghetto but yea i wear big hoodies and tall tees in the park. I like the style for one thing, but I also almost always listen to rap or ghetto music. I can't really get down to Phish when im riding park, but I can get down with some biggie, hence the baggy.

if i heard someone call someone that on the hill, id probably punch them in the face repeatedly.
 
In all honesty, Skiers who act thug got it from snowboarding, who got it from skateboarding who got it because they were actually from the hood, and just wore what they usually did. Moral of the story don't hate on snowboarders or skateboarders because almost everything we do in the park came from them.

I agree the tall t's are a bit over the top, but so are skinsuits. And congrats, you have made a multi-page thread on your first attempt. Too bad NS hates you now... maybe you can try again at TGR or something...
 
its not gangsta or ghetto its a style... just like why the hell do girls wear uggz ... they look stupid ... just a trend .... plus i think baggy shit just prevents you from looking like a toothpick stiffy.
 
I didn't read most of the posts because it would be a waste of time. Little gangster kids will one day realize that they look like idiots, but its their choice so who cares. I am from The T-Hall Steeze generation of newschoolers, but now wear regular sized clothing because they dont get wrecked or dont get me funny looks from people.

It was funny how now when I go in the park with my girl, who is Jamaican, just how dumb kids look when they try to act all street, then go home to their parents baller chalets.

Leave the kids to themselves they are all lemmings anyway.
 
every single person who is on this site was born and raised in compton, then flashed with an m.i.b thought ray and is moved to the suburbs, the cold temperatures trigger a temporary memory flash which causes skiers to act "hood" as it were for the period of time that they are shredding.
