Why do some parents drop so much money on their kids cars?

Girls like trucks.

What the fuck are you talking about? What does starvation have to do with buying an expensive. And if your response is going to be.. "that money should go to Unicef or a global charity" your an idiot.

Sorry man they couldn't afford to get me a Lambo. I'm still pissed about it!!!!
In all seriousness though, 4Runners can get fucking expensive depending on the options n shit.

Hahahahah I love hearing that. Big trucks mean your dick is small? You're a moron.

And Theron, the inbred jokes are getting old, I have never even heard of anyone being inbred anymore....

No haha not me being inbred, just in general anyone being inbred... I honestly haven't heard anything about inbred people besides hearing kids like you talking about it on the internet.

He said the girls were inbred, not me.

Your truck is clean and you live in a suburban area ... You must have some rigorous four-wheel driving on your drive around town.

Because where someones house is located has anything to do with what they look like... Hahahaha. You're not too handsome yourself sir.

I totally agree with this thread, but at my school the kids with nice cars aren't really that rich but somehow get brand new cars that are in some cases better than their parents cars.

Yeah and everyone sucks toyotas dick so hard that second hand ones are overpriced as hell and your dumb if you don't just spend extra and get a new one.

Is that for a basic model or is there a premium model? Idk anything about toyota. In the market for a new truck or SUV. Have only looked at Gmc sierras and Audi Q7s.. but I've always liked toyota... Seem like solid builds and high resale value

I'd emphasize the word safe.

I honestly wonder how many of those parents are aware of the crash rating of the expensive car they just bought their kid.

i go to a private school so it's even worse in many different ways. it's hilarious because most of the day students don't drive incredibly nice cars. granted, they drive new, safe, nice cars, but very few have BMWs or Benzs or even nicer Audis. but then all the boarding students (who, by the way, can't have cars on campus ever) get brand new dope cars. these parents are spending above 50k for a car their kids can't even drive. i mean... come on.

i'm saving up for a Benz. i work my ass off all summer at a grocery store putting in 50 plus hours a week, and i've saved up the last 2 summers and i will this summer as well. along with that i'll do landscaping shit for my neighborhood (we live on cape cod which basically translates to higher pay cause many families here are extremely wealthy). my parents also offered to help out a little bit, but not that much, maybe 10k at most.

Oh come on man, don't blow your hard work on a shiny whip like some ghetto clown that just hit the lottery, that's probably the worst thing you can do with your money.

Trust me, it's cool and all to work towards nice things but with how hard you're working, a benz is a total waste of $50k just to feel like you fit in with the rich fuckers. You will never beat rich people at being rich so if you've got $50 saved up I'd suggest using about $30k as a down payment on a house and hold the rest or buy a decent car.

Nice cars will come with time if you keep it up. Expecting to get one now is just not smart in a lot of ways. I hope that didn't come across as being a fucking toolbag, I'm just trying to help you make a good move, not just a cool one.

Must totally agree with huck here. Don't waste that money on a car. Put it towards a house or something which will only increase in value. A car is a car so why spend money on something when a 1k car will do the same job.

OP, I have a similar story.

So I went to DU for my freshman year... anyone that knows anything about DU knows there is stupid money there. STUPID money. I mean lots and lots and lots of money.

The chinese exchange students were all loaded out of their ASSES... They would get a new car every trimester. They'd switch from Audi R8's to Porches to M5's and the like.

Anyways, onto the story. One of my friends at school is the son of a really famous divorce lawyer in texas. His mom also owned the entire enormous law firm. It's called MCclure law, you can look itup.

As I've noticed with a lot of kids who are handed money from the day they are born, they are really fucked up. This kid went to rehab last summer, and fucks with drugs all the time. Blacked out 3-4 days of the week, and not always because of alcohol. Kid blew $800 on coke for one weekend.

Anyways, we were talking to him one day, and he was like ya i've gotta go back to texas this weekend to take a 6 hour intensive driving course for the 8 speeding tickets I have.

My response: Dude, you got 8 speeding tickets in an FJ cruiser? how?(He drove an FJ cruiser at school)

His answer: Nah man, i've got a masserati back home.

Said it so casually too.

agree with you and huck.

At the end of the day, I'd rather drive a terrible car to a house or apartment I love living in than drive a great car to a shitty living situation.

though the car I want the most right now is a VW Jetta, so maybe I'm not the one to ask about nice cars. I simply want an affordable, reliable, safe, efficient car.

soon to be senior in highschool..... so a house or something is out of the question. i mean in all honesty i won't be able to make enough for a benz until after college anyways, it's more of a lofty goal to make me work my ass off. i'm not at all expecting to get one, and if i did i'd protect that baby with my life. more of a goal for motivation, and i do appreciate your advice.

If you have to "save up" for a Benz (people still call them Benzes? lol) you can't afford it, plain and simple. Like others have said, your money would be better spent elsewhere.

You won't buy a house now but if you have that nest egg built up by college graduation to make that move, you will be so far ahead of the pack it would be silly -whereas that car would be junk in 5 years no matter what it is.

I guess I'm just saying that cars are nice, but they're money pits. Unless you're flipping or using them as a write off them you're losing money. My .02 would be to get a decent car and bankroll every cent you can. Just words though, you're working hard and you're young. Live ya life my man :)

Yeah I don't know how it is the us, but in the uk you need a student loan to pay for uni. If you can straight up pay for it your so much better off then being stuck with the huge loan to pay off. In the uk now most students end up owing more then 10k after uni so if you can avoid that just by not buying a nice car it's more then worth it

LOL your a fucking idiot dude. Your saving up for a benz? I hope its not a C class...the ultimate douche mobile and the poor mans luxury car. Save your hard earned money for college or better yet invest it for the future.

Thats the problem with america these das. The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. Not just because of income level, but because of habits. IF it takes 2 fucking years to save up for a benz, why would you blow it all and lose half your value right off the lot.

Here in america according to the 'yota website they start at 17k new and go from there. Used ones are all over the place as well and the trucks run for ages. My friend is driving a 92 pickup and it runs wonderfully

Because there is no safety in a 1k car. I agree with huck this kid shouldn't get a benz, but a 29-30k is going to 4 stars safer than a 1k car.

I personally am buying a 24k car purely because of it's five star safety rating.

Ok maybe not a 1k car but you don't need to spend much more to get something safe. I had an Astra as my first car, cost the equivalent of 2.5k American and it was awsome. Eventually I got crashed into from behind, the impact wrote the car off and actually shortened the car by 6inches even worse we were pushed forward and hit a Porsche I front of us. But me and my mate walked away fine from it, not a single injury between us.

I agree safety is inportant but you don't have to spend crazy money to get a safe car.

Ok looking at some thing I think the uk is a bad example for this thread. The average cost of a first car here is £1450, or about 2250 bucks. But our average insurance for a car that cost is £3000 a year so twice the cost. That is why kids are not driving 10k cars here as there would be paying 20k to insure them.

What does insurance cost you guys in the USA. I. Guessing its cheap. Also our fuel is much more expensive e here so it makes sense toget a much smaller car so we can afford to run them.

This is funny. Here, if you drive to school, you're somewhat privileged or spoiled or something like that. Cars, gas, taxes and insurance is so expensive, that a student with a part time job has no chance what so ever of affording it. We don't even have school parking lots, because it's not needed.

Never the less, buying your kid a brand new high end car is probably not that wise.

if i were to have a benz i'd go E class or nothing

why would i blow it all and lose half off the lot? cause i'm fucking 18 that's why. the best way to learn is to fuck up once, or better yet, be about to fuck up and have people yell at you for it.

and as stated above it's very unlikely to happen, but then again like someone else said, i'm not gonna just pick up a 2k car. i'll probably get to college and throw down for a decent car in the 20k range, and then have the extra money for a safety net.
