Why do ski movies such so bad in comparison to snowboard movies?????

ski movie are good...is not the same sport ..i am a skier but ia agree that snowboard movie are sick they have more creativity but this is not the same sport and a movie like hot lunch for me its like a snowboard movie

I see what your sayin. Sometimes the bording movies seem more fun, just the style they do it in. Skiing needs to make more movies like UP1 that are fun but at the same time kill it. There were a few parts in Reasons, for example, that completely put me to sleep. Bigger budgets dont mean a better movie, its all in the creativity.

War, Pop yer Bottlez, Hot Lunch(on freeskiers podcast or armada's podcast), Enjoy, and I think one more but I can't remember.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahha. could you pick 3 more boring skiers than those guys? what they do is so boring, makes me want to kill myself!

Snowboard movies will always be better as there is more $$$$, and more creativity from the riders.

something like Thats it thats all was the best snow movie ever produced, no ski movie will come close to that for a long long time.

P.S Ski Movies this year = almost impossible to watch they are so shit!

ummm are you a retarded person? no seriously, anyone who freeskis and says that the Idea crew is boring must be A) retarded or B) someone who only likes street rails. Don't get me wrong street rails are sick but I'm pretty sure that skiing switch through the BC or doing giant 180 blunts off cliffs is not at all boring. I can't believe someone on this site (who I presume is a freeskier) said that.

I have to agree about the ski movies this year. after all the hype they got i have not been impressed overall with them, except turbo. reasons pissed me off that was a lame fucking movie for the most part. Hunting yeti didnt stoke me as much as i would have thought and it was short as fuck. Overall this year i was dissapointed.

Because skiers suck compared to snowboarders. I think that pretty much sums it up. We're still a good 5 years behind.

Wow, that's weird, you posted pretty much exactly what I was going to. Same taste in ski movies, too, those are the three I'm getting. Get Lucky deserves way more credit, that film blew my mind. One of the only films that had backcountry segments I enjoyed watching. Like someone else said, I love skiing all-mountain, but watching it is usually kinda boring.

Why do they suck? Money has a lot to do with it but mostly because only a few companies actually take the film as an art, level 1 for example.

To make a ski movie it really does take to much to make skiers happy, most people could care less about any of the aesthetics of film or the time take to shoot properly. Especially when you can just get a camera with a handle and point it around, sweet! Good job guys you captured crap! But that doesn't matter, you can just throw it over a soundtrack and it'll be fine.I think the normal formula for ski movies is beyond to generic, you can practically predict a movie before you see it nowadays . I don't like to hate but I really gotta call out Rage Films on Such Is Life. They got some beautiful shots but whole the hell edited it and did the text motion graphics? LJ had the sickest part in the movie hands down. I don't know if you guys were trying super hard or if new people were in charge, but I can definitely say that Enjoy, Corduroy, and Booter Crunk were wayyy better than this years release. This is just my opinion, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe ski films are the only exception from the rules of film.

PS. go watch the New Wave French Film "Weekend" for an example of interesting but retarded film. I feel like most ski movies are working in the same way this movie does.

Thanks for listening to my rant!

Fuck You,

Mski

Really? I feel the exact opposite, I can barely stand snowboarding videos, I can't think of a single snowboarder that has brought somthing fresh and new in recent years (atleast that can keep up with the level of skiing progresion), I find watching skiing 1,000,000X more entertaining, snowboarding is pretty much more like snowboring.

snowboarding videos are a lot better then ski videos for sure...

to me, they just look like the are having a lot more fun... the shots are better.. and the editing is more creative...

i just enjoy watching them more... anyways... its all the same passion i think...

first of all who cares if they are having more fun unless you are there...secondly has anyone here seen any recent level 1 movies? shanghai six and long story short are the most creatively edited and well shot snow movies this side of a skate movie which i think we all know are the best

well i guess i do care if they are having fun or not because there are a couple of ski movies ... like show and prove (where there is awesome skiing) .. but they make it look like it is more work... then fun and it bothers me...

i have seen shanghai six .. and that is a good video.. along with real time.. they seem like they are having good time for sure.... but then take a look at optimistic, more, and thats it thats all... shots are amazing... and i just like watching them more then others ... (not to mention that the multi rider shots in thats it thats all are sick!!!!)

but like i said before... its all the same passion so no matter if i am watching a ski or snowboarding vid.. i am loving it!!!
