Why do people have to learn to ski on the terrain park?

At my mountain there is always people trying to learn to ski on the terrain park and it pisses me off. I go to hit a rail and they pizza right if front of the jump. It pisses me off so much. Even tho theres a trail right next to the terrain park for beginers they still seem to wanna go on the terrain park and cut off people who actually use the terrain park.

i hate when that happens

I like the part where yo say pizza. But yeah that sucks.

what pisses me off the most is when the little kids go off the sides of jumps going up to rails like a kicker but just tear the shit out of the jump and make the take off even narrower. bastards

what's worse is that at mammoth, the SKI INSTRUCTORS (who work for the mountain) take beginners in the park to learn. that makes NO sense whatsoever to me

i watched some guy from nabraska or texas or something go off this 20 ft table at keystone (CO) but when he went off the jump he was all squated down and was waaaaaay rear seat, and he came off the jump and did a back flip and landed on his head, and he got up and walked away from it like it was nothing. it was one of the funniest things i have seen in a while. but seriously, these people need to learn that the signs by the terrain parks say 'expert terain' for a reason. either they are going to seriously piss people off, or get really hurt. but it doesnt bother me unless they get in my way, which they tend to do, but what can i do about it....?

That problem exists at every terrain park...EVER.

'Hey guys watch me hit this jump weeeee 3 inches awsome i did a wedge off a jump gaghahahahaha'

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

I work in the park at my mountain, and whenever I'm working I won't allow the beginners on the lift. Also, it helps that regular skis are not allowed in our park. The funniest thing is watching poser snowboarders try to ride the J-bar, which is the lift we have that you put behind you and it carries you up the mountain. They eat shit all the time. It's great....

Life is simple: Eat, sleep, ski.

Apparently throwing snowballs at moving vehicles is a felony and can land you in prison for a year. Who knew?

i agree with the guy 2 posts up, i don't think regular skis should be allowed in the park in most cases. i know it would never happen but if they had a course set up that you had to do before you go into the park and someone watched that one jump im sure it would reduce the amount of shit boarders and racers in our parks

~never be bought. never be sold~

I hate all of the dumb people that do it but not all racers are that bad i know some pretty cool racers that can freestyle real well

i don't mind people that know what theyre doing. Some racers know what theyre dooing and really good at jumps, same with ppl that have normal skis, sometiems they just can't afford twin-tips. Boarders are ok as long as they keep quiet and stop acting like they own the place. but yeah the little kids who roll up a jump and stop and try to push themselves over the edge of the jump is not acceptable. At the hill they should sell three kinds of passes, one for the mountain and the park, one for just the mountain and one for just park. that would clear up some of the little posers.

i rarely use the park at my hill for that reason

usually we can just build our own backcountry-style kickers that are better than our shitty midwesterns resorsts excuse of a tabletop

but to be fair, we were all beginners at one point

and the more lil kids we scare out of the park, the less newschoolers there will be down the road

instead of cussing out these kids, give them a hand and show them how u r supposed to go through the park

thats just my opinion

At Blue Mountain their main park is closed off to regular skiers. You have to buy a special pass and watch a training video to get access to it. It's pretty sweet, since it cuts out the riff-raff and doesn't get crowded.

Unfortunately, all the rest of the hills where I live are too small for seperate parks. It's usually not too bad, esp since I mainly go during the week when it's less crowded.

its funny as hell to go threw the park doing pizza and people tell you that you suck and then just fucking flip them off and do a sick ass trick off the nearest jump, funny reactions from the bastards.

^ That's the one. Doesn't really deserve to be called a mountain, but it's got a nice park at least.

i forget who said it a month ago, but it's worth repeating:

the park should be separated by a 40 foot wide moat with a jump over it, so people would have to be at least halfway competent to make it into the park

-

or a park pass with people only able to hit the jumps allowed in...ie Blackcomb

park passes are really a good idea, i know at our mountain you have to buy a pass for the 'super park' which they build in late january. People have to let you in the park and it realy weeds out all the people that shouldnt be there. Best part it is free as long as you sign a waiver. there is also still the smaller park for other people

Not being able to speak is not the same as not speaking. You seem as if you like to talk. I like to let people talk who like to talk. It makes it easier to find out how full of shit they are.

yea my hill has that u have to go wit an instructor thru the park and he say what each thing is and then u gotta answer he questions and he'd give u a sticker....they didnt enforce that shit at all tho

whats worse is when they pizza infront of the rail then fall right on the lip and cant get up until their 2 friends have to take off their skis and help them up

And whats the deal with airline food!?!

seriously, there are a billion threads hating on gapers in the park. suck it up and stop being a fag about it.

before you rant like a douchebag you should consider looking at the date of this thread. 2003. That being said this is probably one of the first threads ever made about this topic so can you take your shit elsewhere please.

yea its really anoying sometimes i dont mind if they go off to the side or not get in the way i almost landed on a little girl off this rail and her dad freaked out at me cause she skied under the end and i didnt see her.

fuck the haters

ya, i was in the park this one time and did a 3 and there was this little 10 year gaper in the landing who had skied into it when i was in the air. Then i double ejected on her head and at shit. Then the dad started to freek out at me saying it was my fult. Even tho this little girl skied into the landing when i was in the air. it pisses me off when people go skiing on stuff they dont belong on.

i can really relate to you (thread creator) i ski with a kid who started skiing this year and he tries to ski in the park and cuts me and my friends off constantly. its rediculous

i was probably the one cutting you off. seeing as this is 2003 and i as a mega gaper then

moonlight anyone? Theres more gapers hitting side lips than actual park skiers in there park at any given moment

nothings funnnier than seeing a gaper pizza down a stair set lose control and smash into the end of a down rail tho

just like my mountain but instead its 40 year old men who say they like how its groomed and the rollers and stuff.

Ill list of few that happen to me a lot at grouse mountain

-Asian kids who go up the lip to a jump half way and instead of going back down decided its a good idea to hop up it on there boards and knock off the the top part of the lip and then unstrap and puch aross the flat then fall down on the landing.

-Kids who act like there amazing after going straight on a box in race skis.

-Kids who come to the park who can barley go down 10 meters.

-Kids who complain to the park guys thats its "too hard"

-The people who just case the jump by alot and make the table part a slope in the center from there bomb holes.
