You can't just draw lines between quotes and actions like that.

Fact is, Iraq was a problem for a few generations of presidents. Clinton's words weren't direct instructions for Bush, he was just talking about the world and that actions should in fact be taken.
 
ummm are you serious? that was in the 40s. it's a bit different now.

as for bush sr. ... in the end. no one was proud. war is dirty.
 
for starters universal health care will be a mess.. And if you need an example go look at Canada(sorry all peeps from Canada)

how many people have come to America to have a surgery because they get better care here, than they can get in Canada??

I know people who have done this because the wait was to long and there are better qualified doctors here in the USA..

now imagine this scenario, you have been diagnosed with cancer and you have a slim chance to live. You are discussing your options with your doctor and he says this, "we are not going to fight the cancer because the chance is to high that you wont live anyway and it will cost the system to much money ". This is a very real possibility in the distant future because think about how much it costs to fight cancer, compared to fixing a simple ankle problem.

If you dont think i know what im talking about here is a story from my family, my great uncle was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was told by the first doctor he visited to "go home and settle any family problems you might have because there is almost no chance you will survive". my great uncle wasnt going to role over and play "dead" so with the first doctors words in mind he went and got a second view from a doctor at a special cancer clinic.. and he got the same diagnosis about the severity of the cancer, but these doctors agreed that some chance was better than no chance .. this story all took place three years ago, today he is alive and the cancer is still there, but he is ALIVE and the cancer is slowly going away.. this whole story would not have turned out the same in a country with social medicine where there is no competition between doctors.

sorry for the rant but i love this country, and way of life , way to much to just role over and watch it go down the drain

 
Well, I see that you dont quite understand the principles of free health care.

1. no discrimination: even if the person is going to die, they must get medical attention no matter the insurence state of social class, unlike the US

2. Some of us come to the US for medical expertise. Canada has expert in all domains, but some of the best reside in the States. Hospital shortages are cause by the lack of provincial government funding.

 
your first point is proven wrong.. see the story about the guy with the ankle, the system was discriminating against him right??? on what basis? he smoked heavily..

 
well the uk is discriminating against smokers, this guy can't get his foot operation until he quits smoking.

Under our current health care system know hospital or clinic will deny ANYONE basic care because of the liability that if that person dies they could be sued
 
Nope. I said moderate liberal. as in a liberal who is more moderate. as in any liberal who runs for president and has a decent chance. this is opinion based, but ask any political scientist and theyll agree.

bill was also a moderate liberal. and we had a record surplus under him...so, how will having someone similar to him result in record overspending? i think youre thinking of someone like bush, a neocon who wants to starve the government.

you may know plenty, but not the right information for this discussion.
 
Socialism does not mean moderate liberal and bill wasn't nearly as far to the left as hillary is so you can't realy use the "bill was also a moderate liberal" argument
 
Hate to bring this back up, but I have to comment on this.

Yes, that is true, they cannot deny people medical coverage from potentially life threatening inuries.

The catch is, either the person gets stuck with a bill they cannot possibly pay for, which in the end will turn around and affect the general public, or simply because that person doesn't have the means, their medical coverage will be covered for them under current government programs and policies thru current tax structures.

Also, to those of you who said, to go to school and go get a job, you need to realize that while they don't make as much money, there are people out there doing jobs that need to be done. Imagine a world without your restaurant employees, gas station attendants, waitresses and grocery store cashiers, because everyone went to college. It just doesn't work that way, and why should we not give 2 shits about someone just because they didn't go to college, and are doing a job that is needed for society to function as we know it?
 
excellent point. although as time rolls on those jobs will be increasingly filled with mexican immigrants. already I have noticed every single department of transportation worker in my area is hispanic. they can work in the heat much better than white people, since they are so used to it. mexico is sweltering. but eventually they will move up from manual labor to unskilled labor jobs.
