Why would you give a fuck?

You sound like a 14 yo kid who's butthurt that normal people are using Gopros for other shit than freeskiing.

Because its "extreme" for them, just because its not "extreme" for you doesnt mean they cant do whaever they want.

Also to get footy for the boys.

well...because...if youre getting RAD and theres no one there to see you get RAD, are you really getting RAD?

exactly OP ya gotta let the people know. it would rude not to

It's so weird to me the way so many people on NS constantly complain about how they don't like racers because they think racers act entitled and constantly look down on other skiers, and then threads like this pop up. How is looking down on people filming runs of themselves skiing groomers and mocking them for it any different from racers looking down on non-racers? The lack of self awareness among park skiers is pretty astounding sometimes.

because they're smart enough to realize that skiing is more than just hucking your body off a jump and launching yourself into rails. to most skiers, going down the run is fun and they don't need to take risks while skiing to achieve fun. wish more people on here would realize this.

bingo, why do people feel the need to shit on others? Like not to be PC Principal here but just do whatever makes you happy and let other's do their thing, no need to bash people for doing what they want to do and has no effect on you

I have a few older family members that shred and are still stoked on skiing and they sometimes film themselves skiing groomers and other shit, I don't really see why anyone should have a problem with it.

Fair enough

They are putting money into GoPro who is puting money into the ski industry. If anything you should thank them.

I mean, sometimes it's funny when they get to the bottom and are like "bruh that was a sick run for the footy" . But they're stoked to be skiing and even if their skiing is different then mine it's all skiing. As long as youre stoked it's all good man

Because go pro is one of the best marketed products in the world today. That's the real answer.

company is dying tho, they're stock is under a quarter of what it was a year ago

Sony's marketing campaign in action...

...cam lol

It was partially that, but the main problem was that they didn't meet their sales quota because they priced the new model too high and then it was just a massive sell off

Im going to way in on this.

The main problem with Gorbpro is that people fail to realize that the camera only takes an image and not a feeling. A little like your "amateur photographer" friend has shitty pictures are because they have no depth, no story...no way to appreciate it. Its just ink on a page, or pixels on a screen. Why gopro videos are so awesome is because...they pull all the stops and have a team of editors to work it out. Those video show emotion and gapers hope to get the same reaction with 0 time of editing. That or they want to show their grandma how they like their camera for Christmas last year!

The second is a complete ignorance about footage quality by the camera holder. Trust me...all moms suck at filming. They become even harder to watch and less appealing when you spend most of the time trying to picture what is going on. Something most beginner editors mistake is the 3 second rule; if the clip is longer than 3 seconds, its too long and people will lose interest. Its even worse when they post a shitty title like: "Sickest ski action ever 2015 best, get 100,000 views and nothing is worthy of your time.

that can change really quickly though man. Christmas season is here. It'll sky rocket.

Because when they rented all their ski gear the shop suggested they rent the go pro along with it?

Think about it man. You're on vacation, and you're skiing. You never ski. Your daily life consists of a 20 minute commute to work at a desk job with no window, and a miserable boss, maybe a trip to the gym 1-2x a week, family with the wife and kids or whatever, and missionary sex with the lights off under the covers.

We are lucky that a lap on a groomer is just business as usual. For a lot of those people, it might legitimately be the most thrilling, scary, physically active thing they do all year. Is it really that surprising that in a day and age where people photograph their dinner plate or a breakfast smoothie and post it to the internet that they want to record themselves power wedging their way down a crowded groomer? Go pros live on the helmet, require nothing more than a single button press, leave your hands free, and give you the ability (even as a complete tech/comp novice) to put together a little reminder of a trip that might have cost thousands. It ain't rocket science.

not really, their stock doesn't change a ton during the holiday season just because they are expected to do well around Christmas, it all depends on how they do in sales compared to years past

Gapers are just as big of a part of the ski culture as hot dogs and beer. Shit would shane mcconkey be saucer boy without a little gape? Would the game of GNAR even be a thing without a little gapper? Would we have any fun without gaper day? Would jerryoftheday even be a thing without the gaper? Sometimes ya just gotta appreciate the little things OP...

the fact that this bothers you says a lot about you. Find something else to worry about unless your 10 and have no worries at all

mom needs to teach you to mind your own business

A lot of skiers in my dad's generation, who are into their 60s-70s now, never had the chance to film themselves skiing or capture the moments they enjoyed skiing.

I remember filming my dad ripping a 'boring ass piste run' and after when I showed him, it was the first time he had ever seen himself ski. Kind of an amazing moment when you think about it, he absolutely loved it and kept re-watching the clip.

Just because it's something we are fortunate enough to experience all the time doesn't mean everyone has the same luxury we do or grew up with.

I'm surprised you didn't use the "thumbs up" emoji on this thread.

Maybe I'm just old school and love fully cambered skis too much but carving the fuck out of a turn on fresh corduroy when your edges are wicked sharp, doesn't suck.
