Why do people care so much about karma?

. the thread title is self-explanatory. I doubt its just me, but I'm always stoked when mine goes up, and sorta pissed when it goes down. IMO, I think its a cool system, because it makes active members (not aliases) think twice before they talk shit
 
i gotta agree with you. i think it was an unnecessary and to be perfect honest, totally stupid addition to the website.

if i'm gonna talk shit, i really don't give a fuck what my karma is. obviously the dumb shit i'm bitching at will downgrade me.....but who cares, you just expect it anyway
 
Karma system kinda sucks, its more like a contrabution rating, since 90% of it is based on what you put on the site, posts, videos, etc. My old name, eheath, had karma of up to about 70k once, and hovered around 55-60 all the time, and my average rating from people was like, 1-2 out of 10...
 
wat? no more eheath? banned? too many posts? theres got to be some sort of story, or im totally clueless.

And yea, i think it is kinda a cool system. its like giving someone e-props, and e-shaking-your-head.

i think it does a good job doing what it does reflecting how good a member you are (for the most part). if you're interested in using the b/s/t forum (which i am) it's slightly important to have good indicators like karma, feedback, recognition in the good seller thread, etc. if you don't really give a fuck, that's fine, but i feel like it's given me good insight in who is either a scammer or a legit seller, a n00b or a n00b pwner, a dickface or somebody that's helpful, etc. and therefore it helps you know who you can trust to a certain degree.
 
i'd like to know the algorithm used for karma because i can not figure it out.

and for the kid asking how heath got banned, he told a mod to ban him for speaking his opinion or something and they did. it sucks cuz he was a donator and usually said something entertaining, started good arguments, and generally made new members feel like shit.

oh and a warning for the future, DO NOT TELL A MOD TO BAN YOU, because they will, and they will not give it back to you. ski_unit has been holding my account hostage for about 4 or 5 months now.
 
karmas over rated. people take it away if you call them a fag cus they take pictures of themselves in their ski gear in their moms bathroom
