Why do people buy fake Red Bull New Era hats??

Im reading through this thread cause personally I have a fake Red Bull hat. The reason I got it is because frankly, I liked the way it looked. I mean everyone in my school is sporting a Yankees new era or an Electric one and I kinda felt like standing out from the crowd. Like most things I buy, I think its cool, and I get it.I see nothng wrong with it because im not making them lose money, supporting their product, and wearing what I want

And seriously, whoever was the one that used the walking advertisement thing as an excuse to say its stupid: shut the fuck up. Seriously. Because unless you de-badge your car, wear plan shirts, no shoes, and scratch out every other company logo on the stuff you have, your a hypocrite. They put their name on shit for a reason, otherwise they wouldn't make any money

 
I read this whole thread through because i don't only have one but two! Imagine that!

Redbull is a look. Kids want to look like the pros who are completely decked out in redbull, and people like being alone in a crowd. The first day i wore one to school i got countless comments and compliments on my hat, because NO one had seen one before. Redbull has become a label/ look, not just a drink.

And they just straight up look dope. My tan pinstripe one is way nicer than any NY hat i've seen.

I don't have anything against those who wear fake red bull hats unless they're complete tools even without the hat. The truth is that 99% of the people you'll see while wearing it probably won't even know the difference. I just get bugged that people try and sell fake red bull hats on ebay and charge 50-100+ bucks for them. It's retarded. I wouldn't mind paying what a normal new era costs thoughl. 
 
Athletes join the redbull team over other companies because they can get limited edition merchandise that is extremely expensive (due to the demand). When everyone can get their hands on/has that merchandise, the price goes down and athletes no longer wish to be on the redbull team. Redbull no longer has the athletes they need to remain popular and less people drink their drink which in turn hurts red bull financially.

 
I underestimated the greediness of skiers then. if the shit isnt worth alot to them they wont join? and if they notice that people can get their hands on shit they can get for free they will leave?

I know im sounding very sarcastic but I dont want to, its just that I think thats super gay and if thats true Ive just lost alot of respect for skiers. i know that the bet part about being sponcerized is the free shit, but if you dont wanna join a team/leave a team, especially a team like redbull that is pretty low

while this could probably be debated with less efficiency...i doubt that people like tanner, jon, and trice are on the red bull team because they dont often see other people with red bull new eras or bandanas. i imagine its more because red bull has a shit ton of money and, considering other factors, is willing to spend big $ on action sports.

DAMN... I really didn't want this to blow up like it did... And I am NOT saying that Red Bull employees WILL confiscate fake hats from their owners, but they DO have the right to. And I have seen people get called out for it in front of their friends and it really is not a pleasant experience.

Also, they DO NOT... and I repeat... DO NOT legally sell REAL Red Bull hats ANYWHERE!!! The only way that you can buy a real Red Bull New Era hat is if an athlete gave one of theirs to somone (which they are absolutely not allowed to do) and then that person sold it. Believe me, if Red Bull found out that an athlete gave away one of their hats, they would be in deep shit.

I agree with the fact that our company is super strict when it comes to their logo and advertising policies... but at the same time, I can't argue with it because it obviously works. Trust me, I am an actual employee of the company and I have begged for one several times to no avail haha.

i know its already been said but everyone puts red bull on a pedestal. because I have armada shirts, i what does that make me? just because someone wears a "fake" hat doesnt mean shit. I wear one for the sole reason that nobody else wears them, and they look really sick. You said that the more fake redbull hats get out, the less legit they get. two things. If they are fake then they cant really be legit in the first place. second, just because alot of people in NY wear yankees hats, they arent legit?

They are not some core skiing company. They make energy drinks and pay for rally cars do to backflips off of mechanical ramps. SO XTRMEE. I Think people are forgetting that by wearing a redbull new era you are repping an energy drink..... I mean theres nothing wrong with that but, well... its a drink, not a dope clothing brand. If mccdonalds started to sponsorize skiers and they produced a special, pro exclusive golden arches new era than would you buy it?

and besides, 99.99% of general public dont associate redbull hats with pro skiers so i dont understand why you would even wear one.
 
I think that buying anything fake, or "replica" is pretty stupid. Most of the time fakes are pretty gross anyways, and are really easy to spot.

Btw, Red Bull athletes aren't allowed to give away their RB gear, because Red Bull wants to be exclusive to their athletes.
