Why do I feel bad for the pedophiles on To Catch a Predator?

so true. they deserve to die in a hole...on fire...while getting shot...and raped in the ass.
 
Even though they disgust me they still deserve basic human rights. "To catch a predator" is kind of a bad thing because they try to take the authority the cops should take. Shows like COPS just follow the cops but this show thinks that they are the law.
 
not really man. people who have sex with kids under 12 are pretty fucked up. people who do it with kids who are under 10 are just extremely fucked up, I cant imagine how you could subject a little child to something like that for your sick personal gratification

but lets be realistic about things. go back 100, 200 years and people had sex at age 13 a lot. and thats how old the girl is pretending to be. while I agree that its wrong and I dont condone it in any way, these people are sick in the head. and there are worse things that people do than have sex with a 13 year old.

of course in reality, the girl is actually 18 posing as a 13 year old, and they never even had sex with her. so its all wrong
 
I used to think that pedos need the death penalty but now im against the death penalty but many of them need to be locked up for good.
 
They get arrested because they talk to children online about sex and then show up at their house to have sex.

if you think about fucking kids they cant arrest you but if you talk to children about sex they can i think.
 
Did anyone see the 20/20 episode on To Catch a Predator? Because NBC and not the cops did all the investigations and whatnot all the pedos they caught got away free.
 
That show poses so many legal problems... first of all there's no actus reus. I mean I haven't read the law but it'd have to be drafted pretty fucking weirdly for there to be one, they have intent but haven't committed the required act for the crime, and you can't charge someone with a crime they probably would have committed. Secondly you can't let a private group conducting criminal investigations because it fucks with the rules of evidence... anything is "technically" admissible all of a sudden because it's not the fruit of state action, but that seems sketch so no judge is going to want to go there. It's a huge shitshow.

Oddly, if they did that show in BC, and changed the age to 14, she'd be legally fuckable. That's some scary shit right there.
 
They did commit a 'required act', theys solicited a minor for sex by internet, phone, or person. They know that the person is underage, and they agree to meet up with them to have sex. Now, if they stopped there they'd be fine, but when they actually GO to the persons house, thinking there is no adults just the underage kid and bring condoms/beer/weed whatever, they have probable cause to be arrested. The group who conducts this, "perverted justice" they're called, work hand-in-hand with the police so they're evidence is legit.
 
It's normal to feel bad when you watch someone just completely destroy their lives. Especially when it someone who had a good life. But I don't just feel bad, I end up rooting for them. It's weird. I think it's cause Chris Hanson is such a dick and the show is completely unnecessary. I find it all hilarious though. Especially the voice overs they do.
 
Does that really fall under the definition of "solicited" within the statute? Because I thought (I don't really watch to catch a predator) that the girl is usually the one to "solicit", invite the guy over etc.

It just seems sketchy to me. I mean I'd like to see people like this imprisoned but if the way they're doing it sacrifices convictions for good tv, it's worrying.
 
so true. and there are SO many worse things going on out there

its like cops that go around arresting kids for smoking weed when theres so much more going on
 
Yeah the way it seems to work (from the clips I've seen) is that the girl and the TV crew write all the AIM and forum stuff to convince somebody to come over. It's different because, I assume that in the real world a predator would convince a kid to let them come over, whereas NBC is basically offering up this 18 year old chick who looks really young........... a bit different.

I don't support the shit those people try to do with kids at all, but this show is pretty much just a junk show in my opinion.
 
no, the girls just walts into the chat room, the sicko initiates everything, and the girls have to make it clear they are minors atleast twice. and it is the pedo's that suggest the meeting, sex, etc...
 
In the show they specifically state they are contacted by these guys which I think differentiates between soliciting and being entrapped.

If you watch the show people on their most of the time have said they have seen their reports before and STILL wind up doing it
 
ok...as i said before i think it's really messed up and those people are the scum of the earth.

i still think that, but at the same time i think it's very questionable that news crews/cops are purposely going online and sort of "fishing" for these people. it's the way to catch them and all but it kind of bothers me the way they do it. It's almost like they take part in initiating it for the purpose of luring them in to be arrested.

i just think its fucked up that NBC is making money off of setting people up and sending them to jail, if someone profited off of me going to jail because they wanted to make money i would be very pissed, they arent even doing it for the right reasons, do you think if ratings sucked they would still be all gung ho about catching predators, dont think so

 
For the last time, they dont set these people up. These people contact the children, agree to go to the house to HAVE SEX, and they actually GO TO THE HOUSE.

Regardless if they are making money or not, these are sick perverts who DESERVE to go to jail, and they are doing it for the right reasons they are teaching these people lessons by broadcasting their faces on television, and these organizations have been going on before they were on television like I've said Perverted Justice has been doing this for a long time without the help of MSNBC or Chris Hanson.

I honestly can't believe people defend these guys who are after kids, I guess youll understand one day when you have daughters chatting online.
 
that is one of the most entertaining shows on TV. I actually enjoy watching sick mo fos of like 40 try to hook up with a 13 year old an get caught because thats super wierd. Did anyone ever see the one where the guy kept talking about how he wants to buy the girl boots? SOOOO EPIC.
 
haha one guy was on the show twice... But yeah i do feel bad for them that society says what they want to do is wrong....

NOTE: I do not condone fucking kids, that's horrible, i just think its sad that these guys have it mixed up in their minds and their lives are destroyed on tv
 
speaking of to catcha a predator anyone remember that one human giant skit where it was to catch a predators predator and like aziz was dressed like a boy and after the catch the "predator" the guy in the surveillance van invites him back and it turns out hes the predator?

hahah i just remembered that show and a 2nd season is coming out and im stoked!
 
it seems like its entrapment. but, either way, its kind of sick to put it on tv. Which is sort of ironic, that it stems from the same fucked up culture that produces these pedophiles in the first place.
 
I agree with you 100%. And also the host is such a dick. Its like they already entrap him to something he didn't do and then he gets up in there face and is like "You were going to try and have sex with this '13' year old girl, weren't you?! you perv. you disgust me, trying to rape innocent children, now the whole world is gunna hate you" Its like ppl justify that stuff by saying the guys a pedophile but it doesn't make it right. and its now started a whole new fad of child molesting cases. I think a lot of people are being unfairly accused. The middle-school principal in my town was accused of molesting a girl-lost his job, his wife, everyone in town hated him, and it turned out it wasn't true, he was found not guilty but still no one gives him respect and he lost his job. It reminds me of the witchcraft era.
 
What I don't get is, they're not talking to a little girl online. They're talking to a sheriff. It isn't illegal to get sex from someone who is of age. If I had sex with a girl that was 18 but said she was 15 and I believed her, is that illegal?
 
I am just waiting for the South Park Tourettes episode to be reenacted and someone to shoot themselves in front of the guy.
 
The thing is though is that they are not doing it for the right reason. The only reason that show exists is to make money, not to help children and not to "catch predators." However perverted justice is doing it for the right reasons and should be commended, NBC and Chris Hanson should be ashamed.

And I know south park already parodied it but it would be great if they did a To Catch a Predator thing with Predator from AVP.
 
ya i definately agree that theres much worse things someone could do, but the impact that these pedophiles have on kids is devastating for their whole lives. watch the movie mystic river.
 
i watched a special on to catch a predator and every single one of the people "charged" at the scene they all became free in the end.
 
I feel bad for them, because its not their fault that they were born with this shit. Its just like being gay. They are born with it. But when they act on it, that fucking pisses me off like no other because they are ruining a child's life forever.
 
its the same type of thing. its a genetic mutation. of course morally they are completely different, but what hes saying is true. you are born that way, and you die that way.
