Why do Bikes think they own the street

im gonna rant and i think people can understand this point of view. bicycle lane, the bicycle rider is right ON the white line next to the road instead of the center of the bike lane or the right side that is next to a wide open parallel parking area... that one i think we can all agree is a little stupid.

The thing that really pisses me off about people on bikes is that they seem to think they are the same as a car, following the same traffic patterns, etc, until they come to a stop sign. Suddenly they become a bike again and just roll on through it.

The real problem is that the government needs to make it not illegal to ride self powered vehicles on the sidewalk, then all the bikes could GTFO ma road.

i was driving in burlington going to make a right turn at a red light

i have my right turn signal on, the light turns green, and i start to go, and out of no where this kid on his fucking bike pulls up on my right side and i almost turn right into him, but luckly i saw him.

4 way stop signs when you're on a bike really mean "look for cars, let them go if they get to the intersection first."

you can't expect a cyclist to stop at every stop sign when there's no traffic, that would be extraordinarily inefficient.

lastly everyone should keep in mind cyclists have way more to lose than any driver. If the OP hit that (stupid)college kid coming out of the drive way without looking, he wouldn't have died, or gotten hurt.

and I can just as easily say it's my road, so fuck you.

fuck bikers yo. they roll trough roundabouts here like theyre fuckin cars. i get sharing the road and shit, but 95% of the time theyre the problem.

this is how most people get hit, in the city you have to treat right turns as lane changes and check your mirrors.

road bikers, yes

some of them (ESPECIALLY around wehre i live- rich white areas) are super stuck up and think they're the bombdiggitykush

and are super arrogant and really annoying

the thing is, they can't go on the sidewalk

only in some places can they

you think that road bikers get flack, try pedalling around a goddamn downhill bike

its my only bike right now, and so i use it all the time

i get yelled at by cops for riding on the side walk (its actually ILLEGAL in ontario/ canada maybe? to have wider than 2.5" tires on the sidewalk ANYWHERE) and then yelled at for having no helmet, and then for going really fast

thing is, i have more control than any other fucker out there

a bike like mine can literally turn on a dime, something those road bikes can't, i can do a full 180 on a regular sidewalk

ive actually had road bikers come up to me and tell me i shouldnt be riding "that thing" around here

(2008 ih sunday WC w. 08 fox 40's, azonic outlaws, vivid 5.1)

its retarded.

i think if cyclists wanna be on the road, they should have some sort of lisencing program. everyone else who uses the road needs a lisence of some sort. a uneducated cyclist on the road is pretty dangerous.

just my 2 cents.

loll suburb, not city

usually pretty empty sidewalks

heres the story (one of them)

theres this random church that cops like to chill in on this road, cawthra, that they like to radar on

so they often go JUST in the drive way of the church, just behind the sidewalk

now the people BESIDE the church have a biggass fence that goes all the way around pretty much

so if you're coming on the sidewalk from one direction, yo ucan't really see them

and its after a fairly big hill, and a slight decline from it, so you can carry speed

so i was pedaling fast past tehre too

and then the cops just nose out a TINY bit

and i couldnt see them AT ALL untill they almost friggin run into me

so i have to quickly bank out, pretty much into the road, and then back again onto the sidewalk

and they were like "YO. you goin too fast"

and im like "k."

haha, a sunday cannot turn as quickly as a road bike. trust me, i have both!
to people bitching about road riders not riding to the right of the whilte line all of the time, you should really check out how crappy some of the roads are. to the right of the line is potholes and really shittily paved roads. try riding a 3000 dollar bike (mine is not this much, but even so, any road bike) over that shit and your bike will get destroyed (or at least flat tires). also, it isnt uncommon for the road to get to about 3 or 4 inches wide to the right of the white line. its not really plausible to always be there on the bike.

that's lame. if you want I might be able to hook you up with a proper getting around bike for a deece price. Like... do you use your sunday to get everywhere??

no way you could beat the sunday, with the right tires it just glues in and powers through any turn

im sure sam hill would beg to differ haha

but then again, i don't really know much about road bikes so ya

that is a good point raised though, and really shitty for riding with a nice bike
