i think cab is used to eliminate long trick names. That's why cab is swtich frontside in snowboarding and just switch is switch backside, right? soo for most skiers cab should be switch natural and switch should mean switch unnatural.
unnatural is probably the lamest term for anything, and for me, cab=switch, i think it's too late for people to start calling switch "unnatural" spins cab
as said before cab on a skateboard is a fakie frontside spin. so you are popping in the direction you are moving. so in order to do anything like a cab in skiing you would have to be going switch and popping off your tails. we as skiers probably shouldn't be using the term at all but sense we do we should try to do it justice to its original meaning.
I like this. I never use the word cab, just because it's a stupid sounding word, but I will use it in this sense now. Although I usually just say right / left.
I normally use right/left myself, but it gets confusing when conversating with a right side spinner. It's not going to be like skateboard simply because skis and skateboards doesn't work the same way, but using cab for switch 'unnatural' spins is at least very relatable to snowboarding.
that just sounded way more complicated than just saying switch... and its not like you dont get what the person means when there saying switch whatever...
