Why did they discontinue k2 marksman's

K2 have done a bunch of lineup changes in the last few years. The current mindbender iteration is the continuation of the marksmans/catamarans from the old shreditor series that in turn developed out of the classic kung fujas and hellbents. The shreditor name change came about from some uncertainty around seany's contract but I have no idea why they decided they needed to scrap the asymmetical design for the mindbenders. I've got marksmans too and I fuckin love em, totally sold me on asymmetrical skis

Well k2 and pep parted ways, and it was quit soft snow oriented they had no wider park skis. Which their kinda known for with the shreditor, don’t get me wrong they are some of the most fun skis to me in park and pow and crud. Plus k2 has been kinda changing it’s imagine from your dads ski to the guy you wish you were skis. All in all k2 has moved on and it’s a shame because their super fun, I have one pair unmounted and brand new because I don’t think it’ll be made again. I also wanna try catamarans those look super sweet also.

honestly the point you made about them being "they guy you wish you were" skis turns me off so hard on K2 haha, totally hardo. They have sick skis though, but chill out K2. You're not gods gift to skiing anymore.

That’s kinda what their trying to do tho with their marketing

I’m on my third set of Marksman. E’fin love them. They rip around the whole mountain and are bulletproof in the park. That said, I’ll probably move onto the Reckoners next year.

I love my K2 Marksman's, but goddamn do the top sheets chip easily! I’m pretty sure the main reason the K2 Marksman and Catamaran is discontinued is because Pep Fujas left K2. They then had the Reckoner take its place as an everything ski in different widths.

I was so close to getting the original marksman from some K2 reps I knew. Still the best looking one imo. Then I held out for the catamaran and never got it. Oh to be young and reckless again

Yeah, I loved mine, but the durability was so bad I stopped riding them. Total core rot and delam after like 30ish days.

Marksmans were fun but the asymmetrical thing was honestly unnecessary and a bit gimmicky on a ski of that width. In my experience demoing them it kind of encourages you to pizza when carving. Also it made them way less viable in park because you can't switch sides with them if you bust up the inside edges.

This being said it's a huge bummer that they discontinued the catamaran or at least didn't make a superfat version to replace the pon2oon. Because the asymmetrical sidecut is unequivocally the most helpful in pow, and the catamarans were pretty much universally beloved.

I chipped mine really bad the first day I owned them. Haven’t gotten to the core rot because I’ve been putting JB weld and superglue on them to help preserve it but I’ve had a few times where I’ve gotten to the carbon braid and other materials. Really unfortunate for such a fun ski.
