Why did the Boston bomber let the carjack victim go?

He's an American citizen so he must face the American judiciary system. The rule of law and due process are the rights of every American citizen. As much as I would love to see this man face the death penalty, he is still suspect and innocent until proven guilty. Does anyone know anything regarding the Boston bombing person of interest, Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi and his deportation?
 
I can't figure this out, either. The guys obviously have no qualms about killing innocent people. If they wanted to get away, they should have just killed the guy. Letting him get away to call the police was the worst thing for them.
 
dude was driving a benz, had tons of money, they prob looked at him and said he is defenseless and didnt want to kill anymore people, like really they thought they were getting away, #2 went to school on tuesday and wednesday and nothing was different about him
