Why did mark abma leave legit k3 for shitty foam core salomoney?? he must of had one to many doses that night

A guess, but... money?

But I always liked him so much D:

He's still in the positives thanks to his cork switch backcountry seven a couple of seasons ago. Anyone remember what movie that was in? I don't think it was even slo-mo.

I'm assuming that you're like every other kid on newschoolers who thinks that wood cores are better than foam cores.....even if they were more durable, why would abma care how long his skis last for? if he breaks a pair he gets another one free
wouldn't you rather work for a company that pays your more?

the only core thing k2 has is graphics. otherwise they're floppy, shitty skis made in china by the largest outdoor sports corporation in the world. it's amazing how many people are fooled by some paint on skis. i broke 4 pair of pe's in one season. now i'm on suspects and they the sauce.

Yes K2 makes their skis in China, BUT they make them in the most modern ski factory of the world with one of the highest quality controls in the industry. There is nothing bad about that.

haha and funny that you broke your K2`s and compare them to salomons, the company whos skis are the likely to breack out there.

Also I am sure that you always got a new pair of skis from K2 if you would have contacted them, as they have THE MOST CUSTOMER FRIENDLY WARANTY policy in the WHOLE industry!

Hasn't he been with Salomon for at least 3 years???

The backcountry switch 7 was in MSP's PUSH for whoever asked... Pretty sick until he bashed his face in...

Who cares if he switched at some point... most riders do. The foam cores ski very well but sometimes after extended use they lose their pop... a point that I am sure he has never gotten to. He breaks a ski, rips a binding out, it fades, etc, he gets a new one.

Just because you don't think you like Salomon doesn't make the skis shitty. This company has done more for this sport than anybody else and you don't like them because of the R&D that went into a new core in an effort to come out with an new concept ski? I don't get your point, maybe the foam dies after a point but it is definitely not a bad ski.

"Why did mark abma leave legit k3 for shitty foam core salomoney?? he must of had to many doses that night"

That was the dumbest thing I have ever heard. ^

UNTIL... I saw that he is from Vermont and realized he probably has no knowledge of skiing beyond the bunny hill.

ummm...maybe it's just me but, all the cores on salomon's high end product are WOOD CORE!

thanks for coming out kid! oh yeah, hate on salomon all you want but these truths remain 1) salomon is responsible for the modern day twin tip 2) salomon created the seemingly most desired boots by part rats today

i counted 8 pairs of spks at my hill last weekend i was going fucking nuts.
salomon used to be typically foam core...and caught on to all the younger gen. bitching about wanting wood cores(myself included :D) and now produce wood cores in the suspect, dumont, lord, Czar, rocker, Lord Lab, etc.
even on they carving skis..tornado, xwing, hurricane, all wood cores!!! they DEFINATLEY made a big push to focus on making it clear and known the that there products are 100% wood core...when u look at their skis...most of them have a clear part of the ski where u can see the wood, or have it printed on the ski itself..'wood core'....MARKETING!MARKETING!MARKETING!...its what makes or brakes a company.
and to mention they have had great response as far as i know with the wood core as well.

~~~~~he could have simply wanted a change in pace, however at his age he would most likley move becasue of $$ issues.(clearly)
nope, i work in a shop and all the salomon freeskis this year are wood core.. no more of that foam shit.
Salomon skis are extremely legit now..
and Salomon really has done a lot for the twin tip industry, hell, i have the 1080 foil boot from a few years back and i still love it, such a good boot. K2 makes a solid product but i think salomon is taking back the lead.
I always liked the foam cores, through college I worked in a shop and got new skis every other year so the cores never went dead on me. The foam cores were super light, the first year pocket rockets were killer. In the last 8 years I have only ridden K2 and Salomon (until this year), I don't think you can go wrong with either company.
my 05/06 foils are bomb. I'm 6'4" 260 lbs and absolutely wreak them, yet they're still good as new after 2 full years.
k2 and salomon are the top companies out there for a reason. arguing about this is silly because not everyone likes what you like, and yea sure, if abma went to salomon for money, so what, he deserves it, hes sick as fuck.
lol, what would make a company more legit then another if both are owned by bbig corporate company???
Both of them are doing GREAT things for the sport.
sure K2 makes their skis in china but they do sponsors some of the most creativ skiers and organise some of the most down to skiing roots event.
On the other side, Salomon his pushing the comps scene and the groms from everywhere in the world.
It just depends on where you wanna go with skiing.
I highly doubt that k2 was willing to support Abma as much as salomon when you concider what Abma is doing with his skiing.
im smoking that sticky green, thank you.
but im just saying the whole demons on your skis thing just isnt for me. i like my watch life graphics. more simple stuff is more appealing to me. i agree that they are creative at k2, but i still think its ugly
i like how the thread creator doesnt even know that Salomon uses wood cores now. and even when they used foam cores, they were still good. i am not a fan of foam cores and would not ski a a foam cored ski, but thats not to say that Salomon is a bad company.
I checked the date of this thread too many times. I had trouble believing this wasn't from 3 or 4 years ago. This argument might have been worthy of looking at in 05 or 06 when he made the switch and Salomon was still mostly foam cores. But they even use wood cores now, like said above. And even if they didn't use wood cores that still wouldn't matter to him, as he gets new skis whenever he wants.
Hope the thread creator was just joking and looking to draw in some unsuspecting noobs.
