Why cant you quote the first post of a thread?

basicly the title, why cant you post the first post of a thread?

Because if you respond to the thread (without quoting anyone), then it goes without saying that you're responding to the original post of the thread.

but what if you want to respond to like a specific sentence of the thread

Step 1) CTRL+C, or copy.

Step 2) CTRL+V, or paste.

Step 3) Insert " "s

Step 4) Press ENTER

Step 5) Respond.
