Why aren't more girls producing content?

Was chatting with Maddie today about this, curious what might be holding ladies back from producing more edits, posting more pics, writing more articles, etc.

Figured after disappearing for a few years I'd come back and NS would be full of edits of girls and lady produced content, but still seems lacking.

This is a really good question. For me, I’m constantly filming my guy friends. The last picture (or video) of me skiing is from three years ago? I suppose being more insistent about filming me could fix this.

As a female skier, I feel like most of anything I can film or do is going to be mediocre.. esp with how little girl edits do come out. The lady stoke is hard to find from others which makes it discouraging, imo. But I'm sure others have their reasons too

I think that's fair. I just remember having fun making shit edits of myself with my friends and having a blast doing it. Too bad there isn't a lady gabber vid section.

I really feel this. Seems like if you aren't throwing down as hard as Kelly Sildaru you suck. You can be a sponsored X-game medal winning pro and still get shit on by newschoolers because you aren't spinning 1080's or bigger on every jump. It sort of makes it feel like if you can't post something mind blowing you are actively hurting women's skiing by showing just average run of the mill park skiing. When I do make content I mostly post it in friendlier spaces.

I think the answer to this is complicated, but it has to do with long-standing mental and sociological "blocks" that have translated into the ski industry from our culture. I completely agree with you about needing more content, because with more content, there's more stoke, and with more stoke, more (and higher quality) content is produced! We have to start somewhere.

After being a part of Jyosei and knowing what it felt like to work on a project led by women, I am so juiced to get out there and work on my own film project for Lost Girls!

I'll be traveling around the country for the rest of the winter in my van, and I'll be filming our story. I want to tell the story through the Lost Girls community of each mountain, each crew, and each woman who goes out there after working all day to hit the park/back country. Everyone has such cool stories, and everyone is welcome, so if you want to be a part of this PLEASE don't hesitate to ask. I'd love to come through. I think we all need to stop downplaying our skills and go for it! :)

This.

Also when there is a rare gem of a lady shred video in the videos section here there's only like 1 or 2 comments on it. The poster is probably wondering if they wasted their time or not.

My personal deal is that I'm a beginner in the park that skis alone. So the only footage I have is from my first couple days on skis ever and one very embarrassing picture. Nobody wants to record an old lady noob. If I ever was able to obtain footage of myself skiing I'd make a comedy out of it.

[tag=239271]@LostGirlsTribe[/tag] what route is your road trip taking you? I vaguely recall you mentioning doing this last winter but I dont know if you got around to doing it. Jyosei was awesome.

Yea it's kind of unfortunate that NS can be a bit hostile at times, I'm well aware, but I do think the general nature is far more positive.

And no one is as good as Kelsey Subaru. That being said I personally love videos that are fun to watch and have personality. Some of my favorite edits of all time are like Clown School, Traveling Circus,Trollin, Totally Trevor, and yea those guys are good but that's not what made the edits great. I'd personally be stoked to see some home girls hot lapping the mountain or learning to hit their first rail or whatever, especially if done with personality, but maybe that's just me.

1000% if you film and photograph others, you should be getting it back. Do the guys you film even offer to film you back?? Thats just fuckin fair. A 4yo would recognise that.

WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS. do it for yourself. if you're proud of something you've done, we wanna see. Don't do it for praise, just do it for you.

OMG just post!! We need more girl content and you never know, you posting something could inspire another to post something. you never know the effects you can cause.

I think women can just be scared of silly things. do you know how many dudes are out there falling off rails early and doing shitty front 2s and posting it?? Get out there and create!!!

FYI, I can confidently say that anyone I've had the pleasure of being friends with has been stoked on girls getting after it in skiing. Only time I or we have ever had a problem with someone had been because they were not a nice human. So just know that most everyone is at very least neutral even if they aren't actively supportive. I've met lots of random friends because they've just said hi in the park out something random.

I was planning on it last year, but I didn't have the funding and decided to spend some time working on the skate scene in Cali! But I'm diving into the adventure a few weeks from now. I'm asking around rn to see, but I am planning to go to Tahoe, Hood, Bachelor, (Whistler?), then through ID, maybe Jackson, down to Summit/Denver, and Taos. That's a super general route for now. I'm asking around to see when the best time is to roll thru. :)

Awesome its happening this year but its a bummer none of those locations are anywheres near me. Unless you're doing Hood during the summer...

I really want to go there at least once in my lifetime.

Where are you located? Also, we're planning on being in Hood end of May-June. :)
